Default Seat belt buckle damage protector

When the seat belt buckle is released and it retracts behind the seat it is hitting, gouging and scratching the plastic panel behind the seat. Is there a padded buckle cover that can be put over the buckle to keep it from damaging the plastic? Thanks

I meant the plastic part of the buckle. I assume that is gouging the plastic panel. Can't really cover the metal part. Don't know if this is just an issue to be lived with since I am new to the C7. Plastic is looking noticeably rough.

Buying and/ or/ placing a seatbelt retainer is the only way to prevent the seat belt from whacking the crap out of the door column.

Just sayin'. I wish I had done this 50,000 miles before I did. Since I placed the clip I have had no damage.

Can you tell me what and where you buy the retainer? The stock retainer at the top of the seat doesn't do crap. Thanks

I have those shoulder pads that wrap around your seatbelt shoulder harness and they pretty much keep the belt from banging around or falling behind the seat as you described. As the belt retracts they slide down toward the metal buckle. Perhaps this is a solution you could use.

That really should only be used if you are a very small person.. At least that's what the manual says. I tired it and the belt was very uncomfortable. I'll eventually replace the trim part. Along with the right side plastic in the back where my golf alignment rods have gouged it up. (yes one of the little tips came off the rod, and I tossed the bag bake ther, and stuff happens...lol)

The best protector is YOU. I just use my hand to guide the belt back to the side of the seat when it is released. I can see that if you just release the belt and let it fly unrestrained back into the retractor, it would not be good.

You can always buy the replacement piece.

Just pick coupe or convertible.

It is $52.04 Item #7

Here's what my manual says about the clips:
"The safety belt guide helps position the shoulder belt over the shoulder and across the chest of smaller adults and of older children who have outgrown booster seats."
To me, I don't read that as 'full size adults should NOT use the clips', just that it helps the belt stay across the chest of smaller folks instead of angling across their necks as is sometimes the case. Even when the belt is in the clip, it still is positioned correctly across my chest, even though at 6' 200 lbs, I would certainly be considered 'full size'.

Just ordered the belt clip retainers referenced above and am confident they'll do the job just fine and they look factory. They also keep the belts far away from the plastic panels and makes them easier to reach after getting into the seat.

Just another viewpoint...

Look at the first video starting at 4:14 to pull off the front plastic sill piece.

Look at the second video starting at 2:00 min and watch until around 15 min. Shows how to get to the top for the trim panel you want to remove. I am not sure if you have to remove the seat belt at the top to release the panel.

This should give you an idea of what is involved.

I personally have not replaced my trim piece.

here is my simple fix. Go to art supply store buy 12 inch squares of stick on black felt. Cut to fit on each side where buckle hits the plastic back of seat and opposite side. Peel and stick on.Very invisible and does the trick and looks factory. Total cost 2 dollars. Mine works perfect.

I showed this on my other post. You need something very thick. I use the soft strip of the Velcro. The Velcro glue sticks better when it gets very hot inside. I used 5 strips and the belt slides back very slow. I also showed how I used it to protect rear roof braces.
