Default C7 Front License Plate Frame

So I decided to run with my front license plate for this season. I got out the bracket, installed it on the grill, and tightened the big Phillips screws. The bracket still is loose enough to slide horizontally, back and forth, about 1/2 inch. Seems weird also that the bottom of the bracket is not secured at all.

For the moment, I put some double sided tape towards the bottom of the bracket until I get some advice here.

Mine is tight there isnt any play ca you maybe move the screws to another opening and see if that will make it tighter

I've "stripped" one side of the factory provided front plate bracket screws. It doesn't seem to be a problem, though..

I've got to do some modification(s) to my frnt plate mount at some point too.......

Make sure all the legs of the fastener go into one grille opening. It is easy for them to spread and go into adjacent openings.
Just don't over tighten the plastic fastener screw. Just snug is all you need.. mine don't move back and forth at all..

Did you strip the screws that hold the bracket to the grille, or the screws that hold the plate to the bracket...

The BLK plastic bracket nearly stripped on aero-plastic plate holder. Not the big BLK plastic screw.

I wish there were a "side mount" apparatus/bracket, as my Texas license plate won't stay stuck on with just clear shipping tape as shown above. The 1970 1/2 Chevrolet Z-28s had the front right bumper mount license plate bracket. I like the offset-side license plate mount. My 1980 Lincoln Town Car sedan had the front left bumper mount.

Nope, the two big plastic screws are not stripped. This is a 17 GS. Previously I had a 15 Stingray. I had both sets of front license plate brackets in a cabinet in the garage, because I never used them. I’m not sure which set came with which car. One is flat, straight, where the plate goes. I think it came with the 15. The other is rounded where the plate goes, presume it came with the GS. I want to use it since it follows the contour of the car. Nothing is stripped (there’s only the two big plastic screws). It just doesn’t cinch down tight to the grill. Weird.

The areo plate on the Grand Sport tends to slide a bit. I used a Ty rap in behind to hold it in place. Just to make sure you don't have a stingray holder the part # on the back should be 22830070.

That could be the difference in the base Stingray and the GS, since the GS has the Z06 grille and the openings are larger... On the Stingray, they do not move around. The GS fasteners are larger and will not even fit the Stingray.

Thanks, I really didn’t even care so much that it moved a little, I was more concerned that it might make a ton of noise, and drive me crazy (or crazier)
