. . . or were repaired with no record. With no record, you'll never know on a well-done repair of minor damage. However, major damage is virtually impossible to hide.

Ironically, a properly-repaired SMC panel will be stronger in the repaired area than a new or original panel. It will also likely be smoother than a new panel because it's been hand-finished. OEM panels do not receive that level of attention.
Moreover, bonding of the proper plastic repair material to SMC is not problematic as "bondo" can be on a metal-bodied car, the latter of which can deteriorate over time.
