Yes, braking is "more than fine" for a normal stop. Go do a panic stop test. It won't be pretty, and the ABS will cycle much more to compensate for lack of traction meaning the wheels are rolling much further.

Never mind the eye-watering thought of evasive maneuvers. A skid pad session on the OEM tires below 32ºF would be very enlightening to many.

I do drive mine on salty roads in winter, but I just do so on UHP all-seasons, and switch back to my OEM set in the summer.

It is a plastic car, with a lot of aluminum parts.
There was no noticeable damage to my C6 after five years of all weather driving.

I might even wash it if it warms up this weekend.

I do personally know guys here who would never drive their Corvette on a foggy day and never when it rains. I even know a guy who likes to look at his Corvette more than drive it.
His 2016 had 2600 miles on it when he traded it for a 2017.
He had a C4 he sold with 160 miles on it.
Talk about throwing away money.

I bought the car to use... When it starts giving problems and I no longer trust it to get me to the job site and back home, it will go away.

I will add the Michelin Super Sports could not hook up at 40*. No way would I drive them in the snow.
Those new tires and wheels will be back on the car when I sell. Just collecting dust in the garage for now.

My 2016 was over a year old when I bought it and the previous owner put on 2K miles. He traded it in for a Tahoe because he said the car scared him and he missed the SUV luxury and seating position.

I don't really care what people buy and whether they drive the car or look at it, it's their money. But these cars are meant to be driven and are very capable cars with the active suspension and driving modes.

Sure, all depends on your tires.

Most people don't drive their vettes equipped with the OE tires below 40* because Michelin says don't do it below 40* or you could not only damage the tires, but the car as well, as the tires have significantly lower grip.

You want to do it? go ahead, no one is stopping you, have fun. Hopefully nothing bad happens because you're acting like a 12 year old girl, er, I mean cowboy, er I mean rebel? I hope some other driver doesn't do something stupid and force you into an aggressive collision avoidance maneuver, because you don't/won't know how the tires will perform in extreme cold.

Be safe.
Well, in my case it isn't showboating.... it's either drive the Corvette or the Ferrari.... This is my third winter with the C7.... so, it ain't my first rodeo driving it.... 58K miles.

I left court (I'm a lawyer) and the car spun completely sideways on a very mild left turn out. It was kind of embarrassing because I'm sure a bunch of my colleagues saw it

I was going all of about 12mph, but it was kind of scary because nannies kicked in and wouldn't let me throttle back. Scariest slow motion spin ever.

PSS are death in the cold.

With that said, after about 5 minutes of highway driving, they're not that bad.

I will add that with the frigid temps we have had over the past two weeks in Northern VA, I found it interesting to watch the tire temp gauge. I've heard people say time and again, to take it easy for the first few miles until the tires warm up and then you'll be fine. Well, with single digit temps I've noted that the tire temp never rose above COLD and I am driving approx. 30-40miles one way at up to highway speeds to and from work. It wasn't until temps broke into the mid 20's and above that they would reach WARM after some driving. I have UHP all seasons on, so I'm not worried about it, but just a note for those that are trying to warm up their summer only tires.

If you are running summer tires in these temps you are asking for trouble, a danger to yourself and more importantly other innocents on the road. My OEM summers are slick from 50* down until they have time to warm up, even then they can be squirelly.

Heh, I ran cup tires at track when it was 40 degrees. I swear, I had completely different traction levels at every turn, depending on how much straight away was between them to cool them down. I got 1 second faster every lap as the tires warmed up

I know in Germany if you have an accident in the winter months and you are driving on summer tires you get fined. I agree that it is foolish to drive on the OEM tires if the temperatures are below 20 degrees. The owners manual warns about driving below 40 degrees. Try an emergency stop in a parking lot at 20 degrees on summer tires. You will find you cannot stop like you can with an all season tire even if the tires have been driven on and register as WARM on the DIC.

Mine's been doing just fine with Michelin Alpin PA-4 snow tires installed...well except that it seems the windshield washer pump has likely failed at less than two years old.

I don't think that's a "sensible" decision.
This is a fact. I had some nitwit brake hard in front of me on an interstate - fortunately traffic packed and my speed was ~45mph. I braked on my Pilot SS's and it felt like black ice. ABS stopped me no less than 10cm from nitwit's rear bumper. It was 34 degrees outside. Parked Corvette. A/S tires are the only responsible way to enjoy these cars. The Germans enforce taking summer tires off Oct --> April ... I can see why.

The coldest I have ever driven the C7 on OEM tires is 9 F. Obviously, I drove in W.

This was not by choice, but I had to get home during my mad dash from Austin, or I would still be stuck in the south. I left Augusta, GA in the dark, in the mid-twenties. By the time I got to Columbia, SC, it was down to 15, but my tires were warm, and I could tell the difference in grip (still dark, btw). The grip when "cold" in the mid twenties was iffy, but I took it very gingerly.

At that temp, it took a full 30 minutes before the tires read "warm." By the time the sun came up and I made to I95, the temp was 9. I stopped for gas long enough to fill up and be on my way. I stopped only long enough to fill up gas and empty bladder, and it was in the upper teens when I made it home.

I did drive very carefully, and did have to do a few evasive maneuvers including some fast stops, but never had any issues with grip, but after I made it home, I did leave the car parked for the next week, because it was below 20, and I did not want to move the car when tires were that cold starting out (before warming up).

I have no cracking, and I had no issues with grip, but was very aware of this, and made sure I kept good distances, and EVERY acceleration from a slow speed was what felt like snail, but never did break loose (it's possible to do this )

We hit a record 65 today and south of us they hit 71. Super mild winter here over 50 for over a week!

Taking your car out occasionally even on salty roads is not going to be the end of the world, and if you keep your car 10 years or less there is no reason not panic.
Late model cars look fine standing next to them that have been in salt. Get underneath them and try and work on them after 3 or 4 salt winters however and you will see a very different story.

I don't think so. Certainly not on an AL-framed vehicle.

Yeah, I'm just not buying a spare set of wheels and tires for the 4 days a year it's below 30 here (30-40 degrees is honestly fine for daily driving. It's a lot better than 50 with cups).

I am going to Fort Mill, SC in the morning. I am kind of dreading it, though.
7* is OK driving when the roads are dry, 11* with icy roads is nerve wracking.

My C6 saw some terrible snow covered mountain roads and did just fine.
I got the same tires for my Z51. They are great! I've been out in below zero weather with no issues.
