Painting rock chips

You have a choice here. A few little repared spots that only you can see/know where they are or whole areas where everyone can see the mismatched paint? Sometimes leaving things alone is the answer. Now, if some bad driver takes off the front end of your car the answer is obvious.

I find scratches are kinda hit & miss w/ Dr. Colorchip. The system's forte is definitely chips vs. scratches. If the scratch is deep enough to hold the paint, it works; however, for very shallow scratches, the removal step will often pull the fresh paint up out of the scratch. At least that's been my experience with scratches.

When I decided to yank the nose on my old C5 I just took it down to MAACO and let them prep and shoot it. Car was Millennium Yellow and it matched fine. It cost about 250 I think

Most major cities will have people who tour used car lots doing touch up on their inventory. A lot of these use an air brush technique and achieve amazing results without doing major panel paint work. You might contact high end used car departments or the better detail shops to get a reference.

I was wondering the same thing.
Here's what I'm gonna try. So you fill the little cup with paint. Let it set a few minutes for the paint to form a film on the top. Use the little "pipe cleaner" to open up the little hole. The video looked like he was getting paint out of the cup my tapping the point on the chipped area. Maybe the film will hold the paint in the cup and tapping action will cause little drops to fill the chipped area on vertical surfaces.
If that doesn't work, I'm gonna try using some rubber gloves and keep my finger over the little cup and tap away. This sounds like it's more likely to work.

If you wish to repair your rock chips yourself with great results look to D. Colorchip. Here's a demo video of a couple of methods and supplies you need to do it right.
In all honesty, you can't repair the chip to the point NO ONE will find it but you can get it close enough that most won't see the repair unless you point it out.

Which method do you use?

I use a very small brush to apply a drop of paint beside the chip and squeegee it in. Easy peasy. Any method of getting a small drop of paint on the surface will work. Its as easy as he makes it look.
