Default 2019 ZR1 Serial Number 1 Just Sold at Barrett Jackson

GM auctioned the car for charity it sold for $925,000.

And a 2018 C7 Carbon 65 Z06 also donated by Chevrolet sold for $1.5 MILLION! Vin#001 Of 650 built. This came in 2nd as the highest selling car during the auction behind a 2017 Ford GT which sold for $2.5 Million.

I’m shocked the Carbon 65 Z06 sold for more than the ZR1.

BTW, the Carbon 65 Z06 beat out a Porsche 918 Spyder Supercar which came in 3rd highest selling car of the auction.

Saw that and a small part of the auction. Definitely some expensive cars.

#1 Carbon 65 Z06 went for 1.4 million, but was signed by GW Bush and proceeds are going to veterans charity. I missed the ZR1 coming across the block...

MSRP around $600k, and Ford didn’t donate it. The selling prices for all charity cars at Barrett Jackson are insane.

I watched the NASCAR Hall of Fame broadcast last night. During Ray Evernham's speech it was revealed that Rick Hendrick was home with the flu. So, maybe it was he or a representative of his on the phone. Either way, it sounds like Mr. Hendrick is at home.

They said Hendrick was home with the flu and couldn't make it.

I also learned something new about the Grand Sport. Maybe it's common knowledge but it's new to me. The purpose of the fender hash marks were to identify each team's car in races when they came past the pits. They used different color hash marks for each team. As Johnny Carson used to say...."I did not know that".....lol

It's not uncommon for the B-J commentators to get historical facts muddled up. The Grand Sport racing program barely got off the ground before it was killed by GM. Only 5 were built.

And it was the Shelby Cobra team that started the practice of different color fender hash marks to more easily identify different team cars. There were no Grand Sport teams, per se. The only 5 GS race cars were later raced by various privateers for a very short period of time.

The fender hash marks only appeared later on the tribute C4 street Grand Sport, and have been brought back on the C7. A picture of the 5 originals is in the link below w/ no fender hash marks.

I was there in the Motor Trend TV tent when Craig Jackson announced that it was in fact Rick Hendrick that bought the ZR1 over the phone and thanked him for all his charity support over the years.

Beautiful car. Surprised the Carbon 65 went for more though.

I think that had more to do w/ the former POTUS signature and his personal appearance.

The C7.Rs have different colored mirrors to differentiate them

Interesting, and thanks for the clarification. I've noticed many times the B-J commentators stating incorrect facts.

And maybe the fact that they only made 650 Carbon 65's and they plan to make at least 3,000 ZR1's.

It was mentioned during the NASCAR Hall of Fame telecast that Rick Hendrick had the flu and could not attend as Ray Evernham was inducted.
Probably why a no show at B-J Scottsdale.
