Hey there everyone. I'm in Texas and I'm a first time vette owner. I've had Camaros and I recently traded in my 2016 2SS for the 2018 Stingray with performance package (overhead display, yada yada..)
So I was visiting my mother the other day and as she was leaving.... she backed right into my car!!!! Talk about driving fast in reverse. She caved in the wheel well into the tire and destroyed the front bumper and driver side headlight. The fender well also has to be replaced. Check out my video here:

Wow! What an intro to the Corvette world!
Anyhow, welcome to the forum and hoping the rest of your Vette years will be damage free.

Nope. Not at all. She has an oldie Toyota that's made out of metal. It slightly dented her bumper. lol

This thread is really more appropriate for posting in the C7 General section, so off to there it goes. Sorry about the damage to your car and good luck getting it repaired.

Wow, she must feel awful.
Hopefully the body shop will put it back together as good as new, and you'll have a good story for family dinner at Thanksgiving ...."remember when mom hit my new Vette?"

Well, you're "pre-distastered" My wife did a similar number on my first Vette -- a '95 C4 coupe. I was looking out the kitchen window and saw it happen in horror-movie slow motion. That was over 20 years ago, and we're still together, so I guess you can keep your Mom.

Wow, that's a lot of damage. Sorry to hear that, but thanks for sharing pics with us.
Reminds me of when we just moved into our new house, had installed sod in the front yard and were watering it heavily to get it established.
My elderly mother in law attempted to back down the driveway in her huge Mercury sedan and promptly sank axle deep into the yard, breaking off a sprinkler head!
I had just come out of the garage to see her putting the car into drive and digging an even deeper and much longer trench!
From that day forward we had a rule at our house for Mom in law...we called it the NBU Rule...( NO BACK UP )...and from then on I always reminded her before leaving that one of us would back out her car out for her...we laugh about it now, but not at the time...

She loved when I picked her up with the top down.
Couldn’t even see out of the front. Never flinched when I let my ego get the best of me and burned up $100 tire melt. Miss her. Enjoy your Mom.
Endless family lore.
Great post. Excellent looking Vette.
Appreciate you sharing.

Melting Slicks
Looks like Mom has a lead foot!
The good news is that no one was injured and the damage appears to be only plastic parts and no structural damage...
What was the estimated repair cost?

Sorry to hear of your troubles, but like Bob Dylan sang in an oldie "I don't mind a little trouble, trouble always comes to pass."
My wife, before we were met and married, tells of a similar story where she and her 3 adult children were heading out to a funeral together with Mom driving. Larry, her son, said "Mom, don't hit my car." Mom says "I won't" and proceeded to back right into Larry's car. It wasn't funny then but now its a great family tale that brings smiles all around. Yours will likely turn out the same. Good luck and happy driving.

So I was visiting my mother the other day and as she was leaving.... she backed right into my car!!!! Talk about driving fast in reverse.
Wife always accuses me of being paranoid! However, even before Andy Grove (past CEO of Intel) wrote his famous book, "Only The Paranoid Survive," I followed that philosophy!
I don't "worry" about something happening I plan what I will do if it does! With an aggressive marketing/pricing move, etc I was prepared for possible competitive responses and had a plan to counter!
Same when I drive my Vette! I park far away in a mall not just for someone parking next me but also some truck, SUV backing into the car. Same when driving through parked cars, always concerned about someone just backing out and not seeing me!
Not saying these two reported instances could be avoided, but if "Mom" always backs out of the garage and never has a car in the driveway, might consider what options existed rather than park right behind a garage door etc! Just Sayn'
