I am going to give this a try on my Z06 WGG. Ordered the knifeless tape and 3M 1080 Gloss Black Metallic 3' x 5' vinyl.
About $65 total. The stinger stripe for the Z06 is about 26" wide.

I took the vent off, very easy remove 2 torx screws from engine side then from outside push on corners of vent and it will pop off, when installing just push from engine side it snaps in.

Did you just put in place and squeegee it on?

And of course, I popped the hood grille out to make the install easier.

I really like the look of the stingers but refuse to put stickers on my Corvette. If GM offered it as a painted option one would have been ordered for my car when I built it. To bad they didn't.

You want 3M 1080 gloss black metallic vinyl. The code is G212.
You also want "knife tape", then you just want to follow the hood lines with the tape, overlay the vinyl, and watch a quick youtube video on how to use the knife tape (it's really easy).
If you just want to spend money, order the official GM Stinger Stripe and have a dealership install it.

Do it yourself! It's just a sticker, so if you mess up, you're out $20 and some time.

Heads up for DIY'ers.
If you have Xpel on the hood the 3M vinyl adhesion to Xpel is very aggressive. You must be extra careful laying this down. Use two helpers to hold the vinyl above the car as you press it in place, work from the center out. Use quick detailer on the squeegee for lubrication.
It does not lift easily off Xpel as it does off of paint.
