Bought a Range and installed it today.........
Received the version 8.6RA, thats what the ID tag said. installed it with the car off, it blinked a few times than turned off. Started the car and it turned on. Drove to get gas and turned the car off. The Range turned off right after the car shut off. That was good to see. No battery drain from it staying on. Welp, after filling up and driving it for about 45min, it worked great. No issues at all. Certainly can tell its in V8 mode from the gas gauge. That doesnt bother me at all. I dont buy cars for gas mileage. Car shifted smooth as usual and the power was alwas there. You can tell a difference. Car isnt searching for gears or poping in and out of 4 cylinder to 8 cylinder. Very happy with the device. Got it for $189 plus free shipping. Worth every penny to protect an 80k investment. I wish the Corvette had the V8 symbol on the dash as the Silverados do. Would be handy just to verify which mode you were in.

Thanks for sharing - still trying to decide if I want to spend the $$ on one myself. Sounds like the latest update may have resolved a lot of the issues others reported.
Also, one of the info screens you can select in the dash shows the current V4/V8 setting.

That is an awsome tip about the v4,v8 setting. Absolutely going to get that dialed up next time I'm in the car. By the way mine is a 17 Stingray. Thanks fellas!!

You still get battery drain if you leave it plugged in. If you plan to not drive your car for a few days it's best to unplug. It will drain your battery below startup voltage. I am speaking from experience. So, I bought a OBD plugin with an on/off switch from Amazon and problem solved.
Not all are having problems with the battery drain issue using the 8.6 version. Maybe some model years are affected negatively and others are not. Being able to put an on/off switch in does solve the problem though, for those who do experience battery drain.

I purchased one as soon as I picked up my wife's '15 Z51 with 2900 miles on it. I work with a lot of mechanics and every one has said that it is the "best thing I could have done" for the car. They all hate the AFM system!

I've been happy with mine also, but I do need to send it in for the 8.6 update as I understand Range has the CEL problems cured with that version.

The Range AFM Disabler prevents the Active Fuel Management system (AFM) from going into V4 mode.

Been using it (V8.6R1) in my 17 GS for over 3 months no problems it works great. I did a live chat with Range Customer Service to specifically ask about the battery drain issues. I was told V8.6 now has a true sleep mode and the battery drain is no longer an issue, but I did note the box still indicates to unplug it. Probably an old stock box.

Absolutely untrue. I have a 2018 Stingray, and I left mine plugged in when I went on vacation to the Caribbean for 2 weeks. When I got home, I opened the car door, sat in the drivers seat, and pushed the start button. Fired right up like I had just driven it the day before. I've had the Range device in the car for over a month and not a single CEL either. Version 8.6 has given me no issues at all. I put the DIC to show V4/V8 modes and it never shows V4 any more. Car is much more pleasurable to drive now.

What was it that was driving you crazy about the V4 mode?
