How did this happen
Just wondering if anyone has an explanation of how the Z06 got beat so badly. I know sometimes it can be a bad driver, but he got stomped. Is the Porsche that much more powerful.? Just wondering.

AWD $190k PDK car vs. RWD $85k car. Seems about right. The vette has an auto, so not much to blame on driver error. Still, for 85k, it's one of the best cars, but it's no supercar

All wheel drive and PDK make a huge difference. At almost 600hp and a bit lighter it's a winner. That's my next upgrade. Unfortunately they are more than double the price of the Z.

I've raced a tuned Turbo S on the strip. 10.40@134. They are quick.

Also a tuned P car and stock Z, but AWD will make a huge difference at these levels of power.

Yep, traction from a standing start with 650 HP and RWD is a big disadvantage.

Some thoughts:
* The drag race is mostly launch - you'll notice that when they get up to speed, the P car pulls, but not by a lot. And in drag racing, once you build up a head of steam over the competing car, it's hard to make it up.
* 40 mph roll: P car pulled, but not by a ton.
* Z's are really hard to launch. Both have launch control, but launch control with AWD?? No contest.
* Not sure if both cars are really stock? P car had at least some mods. Maybe more. Maybe the Z did too?
* Both cars are awesome.
* At the end of the day, who really cares?
Thanks for sharing. Always fun to watch, and it appears they did this in a safe area.

No surprise, would have been if the Z won.

Finalist 2020 C7 of the Year -- Unmodified
I bet the Z06 would have beat a regular 911 or a 911 Carrera S but no way in hell is it going to beat a 911 turbo S . Their will always be something faster in better even if it takes another model year to do so.

I know what my next car might be if I get a boatload of money.

Hard to believe P car is stock. Dig race would beat vette for sure. But from a 40 roll the vette with over 50 more hp shouldn’t get walked away from ( if both cars stock) as traction and weight are not the factors they are from a dig

Likely the two cars' LB/HP was pretty close, but with 600+HP the problem is getting that HP to the GROUND...
A 4WD Porsche is going to have FOUR driving contact patches while the 'vette has TWO, meaning it can put less HP to the ground to avoid wheel spin, and the Turbo S' double clutch PDK transmission is tough to beat...

I look at it this way: If you want to drive a very fast bathtub, by all means go buy a Porsche. Otherwise choose something that at least looks the part.

I believe the Dodge Demon is two wheel drive and I believe it would eat that Porsche for breakfast . about same price as Z06.

^^^ Purportedly 0-60 (depending on source)
Dodge- 2.1-2.3 sec.
Turbo S- 2.5-2.8 sec.
Z06- 2.95-3.1 sec.
Yes, the stock Dodge would appear to be quicker, but still would be my third choice.

Porsche is making 60-100 more whp then stock with the tune and exhaust. I assume the Z was Stock.
The whole thing made sense.
