CORVETTE vs Mustang 2018

I suspect the 1LE will still be faster but PP2 will make it much closer. Ford's own testing showed a 3.5 second per lap improvment at Grattan race track for PP2 vs the PP1 equipeed Mustang.
PP1 is really the equivalent of the SS (non-1LE).
If you use Motortrend as a benchmark an SS Camaro and PP1 2018 Mustang are pretty close in performance numbers. Camaro has a slight edge.

The Mustang GT with PP2 optiion is much closer to the 1LE option vs what was tested. It just was not available yet back when this test was done.

A friend just picked up a leftover base Mustang GT for 28k. That’s a hell of a lot of car for that kind of money.
Personally I will stick with my C7 but I will say driving the Stang is a lot of fun and the seats are far more comfortable than tte C7 torture racks ( subjective I know ) but I hate my seats.
That said we have taken them out on a closed runway and most time I can beat him to the 1000 foot mark but only by a car or so.

MT also said it used 21.5 qts. of oil plus the regular change intervals. Ford says it will use 1 qt. every 500 miles

The short answer is no, the Pony can't keep up with the Vette, take it from someone that has owned many Mustangs. If they're both stock the Vette wins every time because it's about 1,000 pounds lighter. Case in point, a have a friend that owns a 2017 Lexus RC 500, it has 471 HP, I spank his butt every time with my C7 Stingray, mainly because the RC weights about 4,400 pounds.

c7s are lighter yes but don’t forget the LT1 also makes more torque especially at lower RPMs .
torque is what get you moving not peak horsepower
in other words....once the corvette creates a gap out of the hole the mustang can’t make up that gap .... The mustang will stay a car or two behind the Corvette till the end .
Both cars being autos.

Can’t wait to hear all of the banter when the new GT500 hits the road, although the ADMs will spoil some of the jubilation...

I just test drove a manual 2018 GT with the performance pack a few hours ago.
To answer your question the Mustang is fast, but my 2016 Z51 felt a half second faster and has noticebly more torque.
That said the 2018 GT w 10 speed automatic is a sub 4 second 0-60 and multiple people have hit high 11's in the quater mile at the drag strip. It's really quick. It would likely be very close on the dragstrip vs the 10 speed with PP1/PP2 package. I might give the edge to the Mustang. On a track the Corvette will be faster.
I was very impressed with the 18 Mustang GT. They bumped up the power, improved the handling (even offer Magride) and made the cabin much nicer.

Camaro is the Mustang nemesis. Old history places the now defunct T-bird, in its original 2 door form as ford's original answer to the corvette. Nowadays, I don't think ford has an entry slotted to directly compete with the corvette. Other manufacturers do.
Now, the ZR1 and the coming Mid-Engine corvette may be slotted up against competing manufacturer models but I'm not in a position to say who.

The Mustang can beat Corvette in every category and it still won't be in the same class and league as a Corvette! That is Camaro's fight! It's not all about speed or performance OP. Apples and oranges, sirloin and dry aged Ribeye, Budweiser and Champagne..........
