Default 2,000 RPM & unusual vibrations

Car stationary, in the driveway, brought revs up to 2,000 RPM.

Steering wheel (especially) and whole car vibrates. It feels like some type of harmonic(s) that is being transferred throughout the whole car. While grasping the steering wheel, the vibrations run up my arms and feels really weird!

It happens only at 2,000 rpms. Has any one else noticed this?

A probability as anything is possible to prematurely fail.

Thanks.

My 2005 had the crankshaft bolt loosen to the point that it came out and hit the steering rack.....at 70 mph on I-4 in Fl......took out all belts and H2O temp was over 300.....try to steer a C7 at 70 with no PS......

Out of balance driveshaft maybe? I have a strong vibration that can be felt through the clutch peddle above 1500rpm. Dealer said it was probably normal since they didn't have any manual vettes on the lot to compare it to.

OP didn't say if car was M7 or A8. The driveshaft for the M7 would only turn when the clutch is engaged (pedal up) with the transmission in neutral. The driveshaft for the A8 turns whenever the engine is running.

A8. So it could be the driveshaft out if balance.

Does it go away? Or just at 2000 and up?

Only at 2,000 RPM, exactly.

Smooth at all other rpms, lower and higher.

Curious, do you only notice it sitting in the driveway, or does it also become noticeable when the car is in motion?

I've not driven the car since I've discovered the harmonic vibration. The next time I drive it, I'll check for it.

I would get it to a dealer....lots of possibilities....none of them are normal and potentially a dangerous issue if you ask me....

I would try to capture it on video before taking it out on a drive too, so you have as much evidence of what is going on as you can before the behavior changes.

Both good ideas from mountainears above. Too many times, owners go to a dealer only to find "it doesn't do it at the dealer" which sometimes means, they won't ck for anything. Be able to show and maybe even give them a copy of the shaking/vibration.

Oh, it WILL do it, as I've recreated it every time.
Thanks for all everybody's input.

Torque tube, same **** happened to mine, then they fixed it, but not correctly and did damage to my crank resulting in rod bearing failure. Traded car and got M7 I was done with Auto after that!
