Like many on the forum, we pay a 'winter price' for the pleasure of living in the mountains, and the spring/summer/falls are amazing. But...... as we all know, it's what's inside that counts!!

[QUOTE=WICKEDFRC;1596515088]My wife (who is also my Sister), took the 'Vette out to pick up beer, cigarettes, and a Powerball ticket. By the way, it's a '79 Chevette.

Holy cow, that's hilarious!

Coming late to this thread because when it started the wife and I were in Vegas for a week (actually won on this trip!). About 4 years ago we picked up 42 acres of land in east Tennessee. The land is mostly all older white and red oak trees and the previous owner had cleared out a home site and then changed his mind and put it up for sale.
First we had the 1,000 square foot workshop built and then we had the house built right smack in the middle of the 42 acres. The road to the property is private and it is almost 550 feet to the main road at the edge of our property. We had a 2,300 sq ft brick house built with NO stairs inside and 36 inch wide interior doors, 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. All the bedrooms were built over sized with walk in closets. The 40x12 foot deck on the rear of the house permits us to sit on the deck and drink our coffee or relax without fear of being seen by anyone. The deck access is from the family room or master bedroom. The lake has a good supply of pan fish, large mouth bass, and some pretty nice catfish. It is fed by an underground spring so the level rarely drops. We generally toss out a 50 pound bag of corn to keep the deer interested and it is fun to see them interact. We even see the occasional bob cat. The peace and quiet is addicting and there is ALWAYS something to do. So far we planted about 18 different fruit trees and some are starting to bear fruit. I built a shooting bench and have a nice "gun range" in the back yard. Have to mow about 1.5 acres every 8-10 days or so but a John Deer riding lawnmower takes care of it in about 2 hours. Wife loves all the blackberry and raspberry bushes as well as the asparagus garden boxes I built. Most all the neighbors are very friendly and will do anything they can to help you out. One of the best features is the annual property taxes on the house, property, and workshop is $1,400 a year.

Doesn't get better than that! Nice tax bill compared to most places.

Don't worry. It'll be OK. I think I see space for another garage on the right.

One reason I'm building this house. It has a 4 car tandem garage. Measures 37 ft by 21 ft. No basements in AZ. Need the extra storage space....and the C7 of course...

In the current garage...

One of the first 14's, and the 1 year old house. I can't imagine you guys surviving with a 2 stall garage, but then again I live in Wisconsin. 3 stall with a heater is they only way to stay sane through winter.

My wife has MS. She designed this house with the help of an architect. The front view was completely her design. The interior has wider aisles to help with her walker.
So what did I get out of this deal? A C7, Yup, I'm OK with that .
The third car garage on the far is not used for cars. It holds 18 bicycles that I ride, my other passion.

LOL. I was there back in '97 still remember the beautiful garden which is like... oh... say, 3 or 4 square MILES.

Kings lived very nicely indeed.

There are some very nice homes in this thread. And the lot sizes!!! In metro Los Angeles, you get anywhere from 5500 to 7500 Square feet in a tract area... max. Now you can get more but the homes prices jump to 1.5 Million (starting in metro) or more for the more affluent areas (3.5 Million and up)

Living in a sardine can...

If we had a last homes thread I'd have to go a long way back. I've lived in the same place from 1987-1999 and again 2005-present.

(Yes, I bought my parents old house)
