True, and there was definitely a time where I worried whether or not my 2018 was going to go through the new paint facility, but lucky for me it did.

True, I could have regretted my decision if they did make some major change, but I just had a pretty strong feeling that there would be virtually no difference between my 2018 and the identical 1LT Stingray as a 2019 model.
Yeah, I was one of them. Still seems bizarre to me what GM did with the 2018 model run.

It still doesn't make sense to me, I know they wanted to introduce the ZR1 but couldn't they have still introduced it as a mid year addition of the 2018 model year?

The new paint process produces MARKEDLY better results. It's not the very best production paint job I've seen, but it is nite-and-day better than what was coming out of the shop before November.

I agree, I am VERY happy with the paint on my 2018.

I've been checking the GM/Chevrolet site every day to see if they updated the "build it" section with the 2019 model detail. The ZR1 is still listed under future cars and the other models still show 2018. GM has historically been late in updating their website after the model year production has already started so I'm hoping they get the new information loaded shortly.

I can try the chat, however I would be very surprised that they would provide me a list. The fact that they mentioned the Z06 specifically has some changes, I'm hoping that perhaps some of the ZR1 cooling enhancements will be incorporated into the Z06 as both the ZR1 and Z06 share similar supercharger cooling requirements.

By introducing the ZR1 as a 2019 and moving the production model year up for the other Corvette models leads me to believe that the extended 2019 production run will allow GM and the factory to focus on the new production process while incorporating the new mid-engine (Corvette or Cadillac) into the process more seamlessly. Whether or not the C7 generational runs stops in 2020 or is extended and runs simultaneously with the mid-engine or C8 is still in question. This effectively gives the ZR1 an almost 2-year production cycle assuming they start arriving in April.

Chatted with a Chevrolet rep (Justin) today. He offered no new information for the 2019 Z06. He couldn't even confirm the change to the new oil.

It's supposed to be available at GM service departments already and will be in retail stores in about 6 months time. Tadge has said it's recommended for 2014-2018s also, so it's not just a 2019 thing.
And the primary benefit to this change is no need to swap oil types for track vs. street. This is the recommended fill for both activities.

That is sad. A rep of Chevrolet is not only unformed but is also incapable of getting the information from Chevrolet. What kind of rep is that?

I had a few minutes on my hands, so I went back and got the link again from Chevrolet.com Chat service. As I mentioned in earlier posts, all the changes are for the Z06. Apparently, nothing changes on my 2019 GS. (I hope this gets me out of the dog house with m3incorp

So this lists the new 2019 ZR1 options, however the changes for the 2019 Z06 are still not available correct? I just want to make sure I'm comparing apples with apples based on the exchange and information exchanged during the original chat.

I can tell you there was a great deal of confusion at Chevrolet.com Chat. Everyone I chatted with had a different story. Very frustrating. I asked about the new factory oil fill. Nobody had any idea what I was talking about. Their marketing folks need to get their act together.

There could be several "under the skin" changes that will never be made public. For example they could make changes in the design of wheel bearing hub because of a change in the bearing vendor, or a change in the SMC material, or a change in the high pressure fuel pump, or a change in a component in the A8'd torque convertor or a change in the material used for the manual transmission's synchronizers .etc.

I'm not saying they actually made any of those changes, but changes we never see are always going on that GM's marketing never tells us about. GM does not inform us about every engineering change notice that occurs.

I’m not sure if anyone mentioned that the Carbon65 is gone for 19 . They now offer (again) the engine build option at the Bowling Green Assembly plant. You get a chance to work with GM engine builders who guide you and aid you to build your own engine. This options goes for $5000. I also read that there are some changes to electrical internals but details were not given. I believe Chevy made software changes to the A8 transmission and also the Magnetic Ride Control Calibration (software/firmware) is now incorporated in the 19 model year. Also, later this year Chevy is terminating the Watkins Glen Grey color and will introduce another gray color in the fall. Details not given. The only other change I am aware of is the change to using Mobil 10W-40 ESP Dexos engine oil for all C7 engines. The new paint shop is now turning out some awesome (not perfect-nobody does) paint finishes. Some people may not be aware of this but apparently the new paint shop is still being transistioning over to painting all Corvettes. The old paint shop is still painting some Corvettes and will be completely phased out sometime later this summer. This is what I have read in auto trade journals.
