Page 1 of SI Document ID 4873206 states in the Dealer Installation Details::

Step 6 - Collect MSRP $350.00 from customer which covers ALL COST, including Labor for the download and re-flash of the module.

NOTE: This upgraded suspension calibration is a customer-pay transaction and should not be submitted as a warranty claim. The only submission to General Motors is for 0.3 Labor per Step 5.

Step 7 - Dealer Piece Cost for Calibration will be billed to the BARS/Open Account monthly via Techline. Dealer Statement will include the 17-digit VIN, Part Number Reference "CORVSUSP" and Dealer Piece Cost
Selman in Orange did mine on Friday, $350.00. Took the tech 10 minutes on the phone with TCSC, and 15 minutes to re-flash. The car never left my sight. 25 minutes total.

Another thought and Question on this issue;
The Upgrade is just Data, nothing physical or tangible was provided, but I was Taxed.
Doesn't CA treat Data / Downloads as Non-Taxable?

No sales tax.

Had mine done today 350 no tax. Waiting on the 12 hour period.

I actually called the guy back after my upgrade on the '17 GS, and asked why they only charged me $175 at Simpson in Irvine (hey to MacRoadie: Selman is my favorite local Chevy dealer but not as close as Simpson). I was somehow concerned that maybe it "didn't work" or there was an issue. He said it only took them 30 minutes, so they charged me half the price. Done.

That's where I think the real scam is taking place at some of these dealerships. My tech was on the phone with TCSC for 10 minutes, tops (for the VIN verification, and access code and some hold time), and the install took maybe 15-20 minutes, including leveling the car (and measuring all 4 corners) and setting tire pressures. I watched the whole process.

I don't know what the hourly labor rate is at some of these places, but $150 - $200 for labor on a 30 minute job is ridiculous.

*I do appreciate that the GM Performance Parts document is somewhat contradictive, as it says both "Collect MSRP $350.00 from customer" (suggesting it's the "Suggested Retail Price") and "which covers ALL COST, including Labor for the download and re-flash of the module" in the same sentence, but ALL COST (their emphasis) seems pretty emphatic and unambiguous.

Went to my dealership yesterdayafternoon. They informed me it would be a total cost of $590.00.....WTF?? Kind of far off the $350 everyone is talking about...called another dealer and was told they are not doing the ipdates because of problems they have had during the process....

I was charged $350 plus $140 for service/installation and tax; $523.25 Thanks to info in this Thread, I argued that GM says $350 included the installation and there is no sales tax on digital downloads, and provided the info in writing - the dealer relented and is issuing a refund.

My dealership had zero problems. They said they've done a ton of them (although it has tapered off since the initial rush).

1. Call TCSC and get code.
2. Put car on alignment lift (has to be level).
3. Measure height at all four corners to verify car is sitting level relative to axles.
4. Air up all four tires to same PSI.
5. Re-flash the suspension control unit.

Can anyone provide a document that outlines the leveling and measurement steps? None of the documents I've seen mention anything about that.

I know I haven't seen anything regarding it. I only know because my service adviser explained to me that we lucked out and the alignment lift was open. He said the car had to be on a level surface. Another new service adviser who was standing near us asked if the car then needed an alignment, and the tech said no, it just had to be level. Once the car was on the lift, the tech went around and aired up all 4 tires and measured all 4 corners from the lift platform.

I suppose it makes sense that they need to be sure the car is level and at a zero vertical datum point for any inclinometers or accelerometers on board to be calibrated properly during the re-flash. Obviously the temperature component can reset anytime and anywhere.

As part of the process during the software flash of my '17 GS, the Service Instructions that the tech was working from on his computer screen called for the measurement of all four wheels from the center of the hub vertically to the bottom of the wheel opening of the body. I don't recall precisely, but there was a corresponding number to be entered matching the measurement in inches.

That’s exactly what I observed.

I've got the tools and software subscription, so I programmed my own suspension upgrade. There's no place to enter those values during programming, there's no mention about ride height or air pressure or level ground, and none of the upgrade docs I've seen mention anything about it.

I'm not saying you guys are wrong. I'm just really confused where dealer techs are getting that procedure from.

During the control module setup process a rear ride height measurement will be requested, which is measured from the wheel center to the fender directly above the wheel center.

I think I've read about 2000 posts and threads on the mag ride update and it's going to keep me from pursuing it for my car. The variations on this procedure from both a cost standpoint and the execution of the fix seem all over the place. Very bizarre.

Take your car to a competent dealership with a competent C7 tech, and pay the $350.00. You won't regret it.

Only two of us have described what we actually observed while a GM tech was performing the upgrade, and the descriptions match exactly. They also match the only online reference I could find regarding the actual procedure to perform the upgrade, at a dealership, with the car hooked up to the GM Service Programming System.

*** I understand that the Tech 2 flash scan tool can be used with any PC to running the SPS app, and for $40 you can access the upgrade:

https://www.acdelcotds.com/acdelco/action/subscribehome

but there's apparently additional preparatory steps that the tech bulletin provides to the technician as opposed to "plug in tool. hit enter".

I know this would be a long shot but I would love to ride in a GS with and with out to compare. My local dealer is researching it at present and had another dealer say they had done one and and charged 450.00.
