Default 2017 Corvette GS MRC upgrade

Took my 2017 Grand Sport in today for the "upgrade" of the MRC.

Dealership states they need it all day to allow the temperature control to settle. This is in conflict with Tadge's response concerning the install, but the Service Manager firmly stated that the Corvette Tech Engineers told him this needs to be done BEFORE returning it to the customer for the new programing to complete the installation.

The dealership's (Russel Chevrolet, No. Little Rock, AR) technician is well trained on Corvettes and has been maintaining my two vets for 5 years with no problems at all.

I'll report the results after a few days to evaluate it. Rain forecast tomorrow so tomorrow is out.

Default 1st post install drive

I picked up my 2017 GS coupe yesterday afternoon after the upgrade and sitting for 8 hours. The ride controls had defaulted to Touring mode, which in the past caused the steering to be overly sensitive. The steering response in Touring mode on ride home was MUCH BETTER - more solid and very similar to the previous Sport setting steering. The road surface on the way home was on the Interstate that was concrete with expansion joints with some different surface finishing. The ride was MUCH IMPROVED with no harsh jarring as before the "upgrade".

I was in heavy traffic so I was not able to do much with modes or settings but so far I am very favorably impressed. I still think GM should have offered this free, but is the $350 plus tax worth it? - I say yes.

I plan to leave my car with the dealership overnight when I get this done next month. If it makes them feel better, then so be it

It is not unusual for a dealership to provide misleading or incorrect info because they are too often not terribly well-informed. As Jim Mero, lead C7 suspension engineer, answered in the "Ask Tadge" thread, the car can be driven immediately, and the temp compensation will take place normally whether driven or sitting.

I thought the Grand Sports didn't need this update? Did I miss something?

My understanding is that by the time the GS debuted, it had a newer MSRC calibration than 14-16 cars, but since then, it's been tweaked further, so there is now an updated calibration available.

None of the MYs or models "need" this update. It's just available as what GM believes is a "performance enhancement." If you're happy with it as is, no need to do it.

I knew there was mention there would be one for the GS, but didn't know it's been released.

True, like telling me my dry-sump GS holds seven quarts of oil.

BTW, does anyone know if the upgrade improves the ride in Tour mode? I'm fine with mine now, but am just curious.

Now I just have to figure out if the upgrade is worth trying to figure out which local dealer is trust-worthy enough to leave mine with all day.

I know there's several C7 regulars on here in Charlotte area...any of you done the upgrade at any of the CLT area dealers yet?

OK folks, please educate me. I have a 2014 Z51 with MRC. What is the update, and is it a recall?

From the “Ask Tadge” section. Looks like updates should be available some time 1st quarter. Hopefully this means the updates are available for GS’s

I had a 2016 base stingray without mag ride and liked the ride. Now have a 2017 GS with mag ride. Not sure if anyone has had both and could tell me if the new update on my GS will ride comparable to the base 16 W/O mag ride. I know it is a long shot but ..... I would jump at on it if I thought it would make the ride softer and less harsh. Thanks

Someone in one of the other MRC posts said he was told the GS update was only for Z07-equipped cars. There was no other comment on his statement.

If the OP is still watching, is your GS a Z07?
