Revving in neutral with A8
Im on the verge on buying a c7 just stuck between auto and manual, with the A8 if you rev in neutral I understand you only can rev to like 4k or less, is there anyway to delete that and let it rev to red line? thanks.

Starting and Operating New Vehicle Break-In Follow these recommended guidelines during the first 2 414 km (1,500 mi) of driving this vehicle. Parts have a break-in period and performance will be better in the long run.
For the first 322 km (200 mi):
. To break in new tires, drive at moderate speeds and avoid hard cornering.
. New brake linings also need a break-in period. Avoid making hard stops. This is recommended every time brake linings are replaced.
For the first 800 km (500 mi):
. Avoid full throttle starts and abrupt stops.
. Do not exceed 4000 rpm
. Avoid driving at any one constant speed, fast or slow, including the use of cruise control.
. Avoid downshifting to brake or slow the vehicle when the engine speed will exceed 4000 rpm.
. Do not let the engine labor. Never lug the engine. With a manual transmission, shift to the next lower gear. This rule applies at all times, not just during the break-in period.
. After the first 800 km (500 mi), change the engine oil on vehicles with the LT1 engine and Z51 package, or the LT4 engine.
For the first 2 414 km (1,500 mi):
. Do not participate in track events, sport driving schools, or similar activities.
. Check engine oil with every refueling and add if necessary. Oil and fuel consumption may be higher than normal.

Well I guess I'm old and grumpy -- the rev-off competition sounds to me more like a je**-off competition. As stated above -- why in the world would you want to run your high performance unloaded engine to red-line in neutral?? Red-line gear by gear, sure bust your hump and go for it -- in neutral ???? just STUPID

While I think tapping out the tach is a little excessive, reving the car out to 4-5-6K does let you hear what it sounds like a lot easier that doing a full pull down the highway. Going under a small bridge and being able to rev it up a little is just good old fashion fun. Without having to break the speed limit or drive stupid.
These cars sound great with longtubes and what not. I want to hear it. But bouncing it off 7K is just dumb

New cars do not let neutral drop. Trust me. I tried.
- In some cars shift selector locks out until RPM drop to a safe jolt free rev.
- Some automatically kill high rev before engaging TC.
- And some show D is selected, but stay in neutral till you let go off accelerator.
