Anti-popo tech that actually works? Radar detectors?

Don't worry about POP ... Turn the setting off. There are lots of reasons for this that are beyond the scope of a Corvette forum. Just do it.
The proper term for the "bird dog" you speak of is a "rabbit" lol .... at least in the circles of people who take speeding seriously.

I live in Prince William County in VA and got to be friends with a policewoman and she came by one day in part to visit and also to show me her laser gun. I didn't even know they had any laser guns. She was shooting cars coming down my main residential street. She laughed and said I get them about 5 blocks away and they don't even see me until they get closer and then I wave them over even though once they spot me they slow. I thought about what she was doing and realized, on the residential street, the proper reaction would be as soon as my laser detector went off I should immediately turn onto a side street. She was on foot (laser shots have to be from a stationary position) and so would not likely give chase.
One day soon after that I had a lady tailgating me. I was tempted to blast off and leave her in the dust but did the smart thing and slowed the car. Fortunate that I did so as we rounded a turn and my laser detector went off. I looked around and spotted a cop on a hill ahead, shooting his laser at the traffic. The lady never saw him. I would not have seen him either had my detector not gone off.
A good laser jammer is nice but you have to be careful how you use it. When the jammer goes off you need to slow the car and either have a jammer with an auto-shutoff or shut it down manually so that the police can finally get a speed reading on you after you are doing the proper speed. Otherwise he might suspect you have a laser jammer and pull you over.

One issue I have found with long range detectors is that the detector alarm goes off and then lowers the volume of the alert. I don't think my Max 360 puts out another high volume alert as I get closer. I have tended to ignore the low buzzing in long stretches of road and almost got a ticket because of it.

You won't regret it. Some of the other brands and models mentioned in this forum post are good to, but in my experience the R3 picks up the Ka band a little farther out. Every inch counts.
I'm a gadget nut and have been through a lot of different detectors.

^^This! Laser detectors are just "Gotchya" notifications. R3 + Waze (FRS/GMRS radios optional) is my vote as well for radar enforced locations (like mine). More and more agencies are moving strictly to LIDAR to avoid passive radar speed enforcement, which could be subjective. LIDAR and it's data + dash cam and its data = prosecution...and that is what a good department's goal should be: clear cut visual and technical evidence to support the state's prosecution of the law.

I am noticing more K band here. I had a hard hit of K band today as I was passing a mini-van. Of course it was in the left lane. At the last minute I thought what if the K band is not the mini van blind side warning and I slowed. The third car coming at me was a sheriff with K band radar.

Also most RDs will, if you mute it, have a sliding priority of alerts, which will , if you get an X, and mute, it will sound; if you get a K (mute), and then Ka(mute), then Laser will sound.

Lots of theories behind this sort of thing. No front plate is big. Pop up headlights like on the c4 and c5 cars is also big ...
I have heard of people painting the front of their cars flat black ... Not really sure how effective this is but it seems to make sense on the surface.

I haven’t had a radar detector in years, but definitely find waze effective when driving in at least moderately traveled roads. I regularly drive 15-20 over the speed limit on the highway when traffic allows. The only time I’ve been pulled over in years was at o dark 30 booking it home from a late work night.

Is there a difference in size between the R3 and the 360. I am test driving the 360 now and had all four arrows flash red at the same time? Also where do I find the different bands and who uses what.

I'm sure they would work about the same with the 360.
