Keep in mind that when you mod a car there is a built in bias for it to be better. Different is also perceived as better even when it’s not. Unless you are looking at hard data like a dyno or lap times it’s difficult to place much validity on personal reports.

I'm getting it done on my '17 GS some time soon.
My dealer knew nothing about it so I sent him a couple GM pdf files and spoke to them afterwards. Now they know what to do and shouldn't fumble around when I come in.
But I'll bring the same two pdfs with the TCSC phone number just in case.
Heck I could plug in the software and charge them for my labor!!

True, but I don't know how any "hard data" in this instance can be measured by an owner.

The following is an excerpt from the General Manager from my dealership regarding the MRC upgrade/update:
"The 2017 and 2018 Grand Sport 3LT comes standard with Magnetic Selective Ride Control, however, it is not the same components as the Z07 package. The track tuning software update only applies to the cars with the Z07 package."
Hope this helps clarify to which cars this update/upgrade is applicable.

I just took delivery of a new '18 this morning. I traded in my '14 which had a DSC Sport Controller in it for more than a year, which I found to be phenomenally better. However, before I traded it this morning, I reinstalled the OEM controller with the old calibrations.
I drove the old car to the dealer, 50 miles on a combination of smooth vs. rough, twisty rural vs. highway, and I drove the new car back home on the same route. Thus, I can offer a perfect back-to-back comparison, free of bias.
Since I am a DSC fan, I can positively, without question or bias, say that the new GM MSRC calibrations are a definite improvement over what I had in my '14, Tour is less harsh as is Sport.
I will reinstall the DSC in the new car at some point, but I am going to evaluate the new calibrations in my '18 for awhile before doing so.

I plan to do it on my 2017 GS. I find very little difference between Tour and Sport modes. Hoping for improved ride in Tour mode. Of course, the run flat tires could be part of the ride issue. Also, Track mode is so stiff it is useless on our rotten roads. Probably great for a smooth track

I plan to have it done when a find a dealership who's not going to rip me off just because they can.

I had it done because why not. I noted a diffinate difference right away as you get used to yet you forget what the old one felt like. I alternate between sport and tour. both are much smoother then before in terms of bumps. I live in the south and the roads are generally in excellent repair YMMV.

Posted this comment in the other lengthy one about this subject. The first time I was going to do the update I still had the bumper-to-bumper warranty of <30k. Now I’m over that. This time he tells me it will cost me 1hr labor. Not sure if I’ll challenge this.
This came from my service adviser:
“It won't take the labor code if the vehicle is not in the warranty. It's how Gm works it not my choice once the vehile exits bumper to bumper warranty it will not let me process that code on the vin number.”
I will be curious to see if anyone outside the warranty period gets this done for $0 labor.
