Is it OK, if I use a Jeep Cherokee instead?

The thoroughness of seat heat in my current, and previous Mercedes-Benz' heated frnt seating surfaces, has me spoiled.

IIRC, the heated seating on my 3LT is sufficient - but not greater than my MB.

Regards, the ventilated seating in my 3LT, the mystery of why it doesn't always feel cool, is solved by the ambient interior air temperature provided in-thread here.

The OP should provide the ambient general temperature of the car, to gauge speed of heated seat action. Might have something to do with it.

the heated seats in my 15 are slow to warm they do get warm not 10 minutes probably closer to 5. They definitely do not heat up like the ones in my enclave which after 5 minutes will get hot, but they arent cooled seats either. The cooling feature seems to work fine as the wife turned that on instead of the heat and the seat was cold.

My '08 got hot fast and would have to turn down, but my '15 takes a long time to heat up and never gets hot enough to turn down. I think it should work better. My son's Ford Rapper will get so hot you can't stand it and on cool actually gets cool.

FWIW...

The warmers in my '17 work fine but are noticeably slower to reach full temp compared to our other (GM) cars, even our '10 Silverado, '15 Sonic and '16 Impala...

Had no idea what POS heated seats other than Mercedes-Benz heated frnt seat were, until I rode with my older Brother in his fully loaded, leather seats Buick Regal, a few years ago. GM's idea of heated seats was what felt like a singular line of heat up through the center of the seat bottom, and seat back of the seat. What a joke!

My GF's 2014 loaded Honda Accord's heated frnt seats don't heat all the seating surfaces either.

My baseline is my 1999 Mercedes-Benz E300's frnt seats. Completely heated seating surfaces. Ditto, my '06 E320 CDI's frnt seating surfaces.

My C7, as I wrote, seems to have sufficient seating surface coverage of their heat. I haven't used it that much living in Texas, since buying though.

I live in south Texas and have been using it a lot this winter LOL. Definitely takes a while to warm up and then it is just that, warm. I guess it is better than the venting fans because those start strong and then just fade out.... Dealer says normal operation....

The ventilated seats don't "fade out." Your back side just accommodates to the initial temp change. It's just like walking in from a hot outside to a cooler, or vice versa, indoor room. When you first enter, the temp difference is dramatic, and then shortly after, you don't notice the difference. The temp doesn't change, but your body quickly acclimatizes.

If you turned seat ventilation off for awhile, and then turned it back on, you feel the difference again, but the fans are always running the same speed when on.

The answer on the slow heating of the C7 seat design is because of the ventilation system, which consumes space that might otherwise be occupied by seat heating elements. I find the seats way too hot in our other vehicles unless I turn them to the lowest setting.

The seats in my C6 would get hot enough I had to turn them from high to low in about 5 minutes. In the C7, I can drive almost the whole 20 minutes to work on high and it's just getting hot enough to turn down on a cold day.

I'd rather have them just drop the heated seats than continue with a substandard product that frustrates owners. No comparison to those in my C6 or our Caddy ATS and XT5. (Both have cooling/ventilation as well, but an obviously different seat design than the C7 since they actually work!) This has been a complaint since introduction and no improvements have been made, so this is likely what you will get for the balance of the C7 run.

It's all in the perception of the customer. I think the heated seats are fine, and I don't like my rear fried.

I drive my 16 Z to work most winter days. It is a 6 mile drive home. I park outside in zero weather this winter on the coldest days. Car is stone cold and in that 6 miles it takes to get home I have to turn off my seats. Its a M7 so no remote.

Something seems odd for you all that cant feel the heat. I had a Cadi and you could cook on those seats.......... the Z is not like the Cadi but very adequate.

Wife is on blood thinners and she too will shut down, not off her seat in about 15 minutes.

We normally offer Jeeps for lesser misdemeanors, but if everyone is agreed we should allow it since this is your first offense.

It's not perception-some of them simply must work better than others-and many owners appear to be disappointed. I don't want to be fried either, but not feeling heat at all for the first 15 minutes tells me there is something wrong with the design or execution. If you own other vehicles with heated seats it is obvious how lame these are.

You're right, many are, and many aren't. All my other vehicles (3) have heated seats I think are too hot, even on low. That's why I view as customer preference/perception.

Dealer is correct IMO and experience.
Pic shows the reason as does video:

Pic taken from video below that shows this thick mesh is between the leather and the heating elements. It increases conduction time for the seat to feel warm. In my C6 took 2 miles to turn down from 3 to 1 bar. In the C7 it takes ~8/10 miles but it does to a point where I turn them down.

That mesh allows the air that blows cabin air to your body!

This video discusses C7 vs C6 seats.

Cooling and heating buttons on my seats must definitely be placebos. They probably track how many times they are turned on and compile it for some super secret study. Hopefully, since the buttons seam to do nothing else. LOL
