I am so wanting to do that, but we don't have any authorized applicators any where close.

Can't wait to see the pics. What color is your Vette?

I'm traveling 2 hours to get it done. It's the closest I could find with a good rep.

Mine is AW which is probably the color least done, but I'm doing it for the protection to the paint as well as the looks. What color is yours?

I'm skeptical that you used CQaurtz because of the results I've seen from your detailing instructions. It looks incredible either way.

Beautiful thanks for showing!

I'm having some XPel applied to the front and mirrors + the CQuartz. I'm paying around 1650 for it all. I believe the CQuartz was 850

I did cquartz after i wet sanded the sides.....the horizontal surfaces are done with my docs.

What you are buying with CQuartz (or coatings) is durability, not enhanced gloss over the other methods shown here by many.

Thanks for your input, Glen. One other question: What do you recommend for 1LT black leather for treatment?

I did mine myself with 22ple which is also a glass coating. I did paint correction first and jeweled the surface with Menzernas SF4500. It looks great with a nice wet-look deep gloss.

I bought what I used online but I am not sure about mentioning the name here. I searched for 22ple after seeing photos of another member's C7. I washed the car with car soap and a little Dawn then sprayed it with Car Pro Iron-X to remove fine metal contaminants mostly from the brake dust. I clayed it with blue clay after drying it. I taped off all off the gaps, seams, emblems and windows to prevent a build up of compounds.

I did paint correction using Meguiar's DA D300 Paint Correction Compound with their microfiber pads. Even though the car was new it had fine scratches from transportation and dealer prep. Once I verified the surface using a bright spot light I moved on to using Menzernas SF4500 fine polish with a soft finishing pad. I did each panel over several times until the clear coat was jeweled to a perfect shine. After a wipe down with 50/50 alcohol and distilled water I applied the 22ple glass coating one section at a time. I buffed it off after 3 1/2 minutes using plush microfiber towels. Once the coating cured for a few days I sprayed it with 22ple Final Coat to finish the job. It took over 25 hours and was easy to do on my 4-post lift. CQuartz Finest is only available to licensed detailing pros but I am very happy with results using the 22ple products and it cost me a whole lot less than going to a pro. I can see why they charge over $1K to $2K. It takes many hours to do paint correction properly.

Cquartz is avail to public for $50 - the formulation that a detailer uses that is authorized, is thicker...( called CQ finest) but not sure how much better.

I bought CquartzUK ( a thicker version) at the detailing site and put it on myself. Love CQ, hate their Reload...(the topper stuff for CQ)

Thanks for the clarification Glen. I have only used the 22ple Final Coat once so I am not sure how it will work as a detailing spray. I was going to try Reload but will defer to your opinion of it. I may try applying a second coat of the 22ple since I won a 30ml bottle from my supplier after posting pictures on Their FB page. They did tell me that two coats does not double the protection but it won't hurt it either.

why not just put some liquid paint sealant that will last almost 6 months, vs put on Cquartz that'll like 1 year at 5 times the cost from a dealer? lol

Because it can several years and is about only twice the $ of a sealers. Coating are a diff game for many that use it...

Here's a good explanation of coating vs sealer:

coating vs sealant:

From a detailing site:
A coating is a hand applied product that is much thicker and much more durable than a traditional wax or paint sealant. A wax or sealant might last anywhere from 1 month to 1 year where as a coating can last multiple years. A coating can add additional protection against scratching and marring that a wax or sealant cannot.

Coatings for the most part are much more expensive than a wax or sealant and require more expertise to apply properly. A coating can be removed by polishing it off. If you are a beginner I would recommend that you start off with a good sealant or wax. If you are looking for a good winter protection package for your vehicle that won't break the bank.
