Default '18 GS Paint Scratch Headaches, SOLVED.

I bought my '18 GS new about three weeks ago from the dealership. Man was the paint finish beat up!! In this video you get a good idea what Admiral Blue should look like as I show what paint damage looks like and tips on how to correct it. Hope it helps someone out and stay tuned for future mechanical repairs, adjustments, improvements, etc. This is my personal car and I am taking requests for anything mechanically related so let me know if you have an idea and possibly I can post it on my YTube channel. Go easy on me boys I only have one engine hoist and one engine stand to work with at a time. :-) -Ozz

This is exactly why I didn't let my Grand Sport get "prepped" or "cleaned" when my car came in. Essentially off the Corvette transport trailer and into my trailer. No swirl marks, scratches, etc. and no expensive paint correction to do prior to paint protection film and ceramic coating.

Thanks Ozzstar for confirming another's suspicions and concerns.

Nice work Ozz! I have a PC7424XP too... and agree that it’s time consuming, but the results are worth it

If I had to do it all over again I would do the exact same thing as you did. Either direct immediate pickup without the dealership touching the car or museum delivery preferred. Take care

Yes it is time and labor intensive but for a true car person it's worth it to make your car stand out from the one next to it. Let it shine!

Good Job on the VID Some day i'll get the ***** to give it a shot.I use to buff cars for detailing. These polishers look so much forgiven.
Couple worries..New Vette and all the Edges.
The top of the front fenders have about a 2inch strip, flat. Then 2 edges..alot of edges to burn paint.
Obviously a small pad or buffer just for that area.
Practice makes perfect. Not a easy car to learn on.

No, 'new car get ready' done on your new C7 by the receiving Chev. dealer? That, is the way to do it then.

After reading the initial report the other day by OZZ, I was feeling so very fortunate the C7 I bought had virtually nothing but a couple washes done on it before being turned over to me, paint damage free. In fact, it was a little dusty from sitting off to the side of the front of the Chev. dealership, since it arrived for sale, 2 months before I uncovered it to purchase it.

Nice instruction. I've never done it (Leased cars for 25+ years) Now I OWN a '17 GS CE # 663.
My car sat in the showroom for 2 months, then on the lot, front and center on a busy 5 lane suburban commercial street
for 3 months. 5 months of ABUSE. I got $ 22,000. off MSRP so it's time to deal with all the scratches.
Ozz, you didn't say what type, name of polish you used?????
Albany, NY is 38* too early to polish anything.

The DA (dual action) polishers are not aggressive like a rotary buffer polisher. They oscillate and spin so heat is much reduced. Not damage proof but wayyyy safer on paint to use for anyone of all skill levels.

Thank you Steven and the reveal will be soon. I have approx. 12 hours labor into the paint correction at this point.

Beat on those scratches a little bit here and there Jjay and eventually you will get time to drive the car, in sparkling shiny style of course! Have fun!
