Default Tow hook...yes or no

I知 considering adding a tow hook, not for the cool factor but in the event I would actually need a tow (road not track). Will it help if I知 towed or do the truck have the equipment to do it correctly? Are they just fluff?

You'll get a variety of opinions on the forum.

I personally feel that it's your car. Do what you like to it and disregard what others think. If we all had the same color, same options, same mods, it would be a pretty boring car.

Will it help towing? Maybe, but tow straps are a better option. I have seen where you can buy a strap hook that goes into the jacking puck holes and connects to the strap. Something like that would probably be best for track use.

FYI, I do have the tow hooks. I figure it's better than nothing, and I like the look.

I got these in black. https://zl1addons.com/products/corve...14047275417663 I track a lot and didn't want to take them on and off. These are the least obtrusive ones I've seen.

Obviously it’s your car and you can do what you like, but you asked. Track = yes, otherwise = no. You can always store a tow hook for emergency.

A tow truck wold probably put j hooks in the shipping slots or possibly chain through your control arms. Either way, there is a strong likelihood of scratching or worse on the bumper or splitter. I do recommend getting 1 long tow hook like the ZL1Addons piece or the GM hook (if it’s long?) and storing it in the factory foam cutout or the rear cubby.

Just a point of view - I have more than 800,000 miles in Corvettes over the past 30-years - just replaced my 2015 with 96,000 miles for a 2019 with 9 miles - in all those miles and years I have never needed a tow or flat bed.

I have the GM toe hook in the storage container over the Battery. If I need a Tow I will insist on an Eagle claw type wrecker . grabs the wheels from the bottom of the wheels ( lowest form of pick up without any intrusion on the front stage 3 spoiler.)

I used my tow hook to tow my 2015 z onto my trailer when I dropped a valve last year. Without the tow hook it would have been messy. At the very least I'd have one stored in the compartment with the battery.

Get the GM tow hook and keep it in the tray above the battery. If you ever get stuck on wet grass at a ball field, county fair, car show or family reunion, there is no spot on the bodywork for your friends or relatives to push the car out. The tow hook gives you some options and a spot to hook a tow strap.

As others have mentioned, the cutout is there above your battery. I bought the GM hook just in case and placed it in there. Otherwise, tow hooks for cars that don't see track are rather silly.
