Which radar detector do you recommend?

~ For me, 'Escort Solo S3 Cordless Radar Detector'
Velcro mounting aft of C7 HUD (no wires). Have been using detectors since 1983 crossing this country too many times to count. Only stopped once, receiving a warning.
Former LEO with experience on both sides. Not trying to start Radar performance wars but it works for me. Simple, cordless, removable, and economical.

Uniden R3 on a blendmount hands down the best and furthest detector you can own UNLESS your in a laser area and then the V1 is the laser king..

Most of the new products available from Escort Uniden and Valentine are all good.
The question is are you going to take the time to learn how to use them. There is a learning curve for each device.
My personal preference is for the Uniden r3.

Does the R3 use an RJ-11 plug like the Passports?

Yes, RJ-11. I have old Escort, V1 and R3 all use the same plug.

I think you can use the mirror bracket and replace the holder. My R3 is in a different car so not sure.

Yeah i saw it looked they they used the exact same mirror mount piece, just a different holder... But will Blendmount let me just purchase a new holder?

I reused BOTH my brackets on my Focus and my Corvette. For the Corvette you need:

Max 360
They're all good in this price range and the 360 is physically larger but it does what it does so well, easy to use, great customer support and no need to think about replacing/upgrading for many years....

Maybe in you live in a rural area that doesn't have a lot of users. I live in Miami with a population of almost 3MM people. Can't get anymore accurate than actual users reporting there are police ahead and the app letting you know miles before you get there. Most the time when it is inaccurate it is because the police have left the location they were reported being at.

What's factual is that in 3 years of use it has never not advised me when a police officer was up ahead. I've gotten false notifications but radar detectors give false alarms too. But hey if spending several hundred dollars on a radar makes you feel warm and fuzzy then knock yourself out.

Wow! With so many choices, I think that will opt for an Escort Max 360c. Reasons are that many of the respondents indicate several Escort models as your choice. Another reason is that I have experience with Escort, (actually Cincinnati Microwave), although it goes back to the seventies and eighties when I had my first of several Passports. The Valentine just plain bothers me due to its boxy design which appears to having been assembled with a bunch of parts gleaned from a hardware store.
As I just purchased my 3rd Corvette, I'll probably need a radar detector again. Haven't needed one since my last Corvette, a '68 L71/L89, (which I converted to an L88). My first Corvette was a silver '65 327/350 coupe. (D__n that was a pretty car!) Anyway, if you've done the math, it's been fifty, (yup, 50!), years since I bought my last Corvette!
Thanks again to all of you! I really do appreciate the time that all of you have taken to respond to this newbie on the Corvette Forum! It's gonna be fun! Now if the snow would only melt and the weather would warm up, I'll, pull the cover off, light it off and go for a ride!

He’s right, Waze does work. I have a ton of friends that rely on it.
I just personally don’t want to rely on it. I need something tangible finding the cops.
