Default GM Mag ride update results poll

If you had the update done poll your thoughts on this upgrade.

Personally I think it's worth the time, effort and money, really nice upgrade.

I did have the DSC in my Z51 for 9 months. The ride in sport is not quite as smooth but there is no float on the GM version, I'll take that over the float. I spend 90% of my time in sport, 10% in track when a great road shows up.

Had my Z06 done yesterday.
Went for a bit of a run today.
IMO, it's well worth the $350.

My ideal poll choice would have been "good, and worth every penny," so I went with the good part. "Awesome" is a little too strong a term for the difference, given other alternatives, but definitely worth $350.

Anyway I'm surprised to see your honest opinion being relatively positive, that a remarkable achievement for the GM tune.

Thanks, I think, but I have posted at least 4-5 positive reviews of the new GM calibrations in the various threads floating around here. I was not criticizing your poll but personalizing my feedback.

I evaluated my new car vs. old car back-to-back on the same route, and the upgrade is definitely much better. I was trained as a scientist and am paid well to be objective for a living. I am more than willing to give GM well-deserved credit for the significant improvement.

My opinion aside, it's also becoming very clear, that the vast majority agree that if you're not going to do anything else, it is well worth $350 to upgrade your MSRC-equipped car.

My Vette is a 2016 Convertible with Z51. Upgrade was well worth it for me. Driving over the same rough roads before and after, ride was smoother, bumps appear less jarring to me (in Touring).

Foosh:

Is there a part number for this upgrade? I'm planning to do it on my 2017 GS soon. Thanks for any information you can provide.

My new car came with it. it has to be done through a dealer and the appropriate calibration is tied to your VIN. Only a dealer can download and install it.

Foosh, are you going to re-install your DSC? How much better is it than the GM upgrade in your opinion? Would you still purchase the DSC if you didn't already own it?

Best info I have seen is here, print this out and take it to your dealer, if they have no clue what you are talking about have them call the number listed. My car was the first done at my stealership. Took a while for them to figure it all out but they did.

I have had both. IMO it really depends on what you do with your car and what your desire to fiddle is, also what you want to spend. Is the DSC controller a superior controller, yes. Will that make much of a difference in your enjoyment of your car? for me no. One issue I had with the controller IMO was the tunes where done by Mike on a Z06, the only tune available at the time of my ownership. On a Z51 the ride was way to floaty for the spring rates ect on a Z51. Everyone harps on you can change those yourself but I know nothing about tuning a suspension nor do I think I can do better then GM. For comfort the GM is nearly s comfortable but without the float so I'm very happy.

Did I miss something ? I have a 2017 Z06 with MSRC was I supposed to upgrade something and why does it cost $350 and not a warranty item? Thanks Dave

It's an upgrade, not a fix for anything. So yes it's $350, some dealers charge more, some charge 0 because they are clueless. YMMV

Thank you but how does it improve the factory stock settings by GM on the MSRC? I am clueless about this upgrade.

went in for oil change and asked about update. Said they had only done one. Said the update stiffened the system. Why would you want to stiffen the Tour setting? Track maybe? I will wait until I know more about this update.
