Best Radio Tone Settings
Anyone have a sweet spot for radio settings 2LT: tones, mid-range, bass, fader etc? Not into boom or bass music Thanks

I set my fader just one notch above the middle The equalizer I like to get all ranges close to the top but I have 2 years’ worth of recordings that were done in a house that was built in the 1920’s. The ground wiring was not up to 1980 standards so now I have a hum in the recordings on cassette that was hard to hear. On a CD I can hear a hum and on a USB stick I can really hear that hum so I have to dial the equalizer settings down. Go with the upper ends and keep the base one or 2 settings below.

I think I'm the only one who has an aux cord to my radar detector, and it sounds great with the treble a little higher than the bass.
I love the sound of x and k band falses, and I love the sounds of a ka band screech ...

We can give you our settings but at the end of the day the only thing that matters is how you like it. I set my midrange and bass right in the middle and the treble all the way up. The balance and fader I keep right in the middle spot.

Yup. I’ve been messing with mine trying to find it. Too many variables to pick the “sweet spot”. Music type, song, input type, volume, road noise. 2 songs from the same source may need totally different settings.

Once you stated: "Not into boom or bass music...", it doesn't really matter.
It all depends on everyone's tastes & what they drive.
I have a vert, with the top down most/all of the time, so I want/need more bass...

Your settings depend on your source. If I listen to regular radio vs XM the overall sound is different. Sometimes I even change my tone settings for different songs. Set your tone settings for what sounds best to you.

Even from one song to the next on XM radio I'm finding the settings are good for one song but not as good on the next.

Since Billy346 and NostraD posted their recommendations in the thread linked below, I've had equalizer and fader settings at:
Bass: centered (50%)
Midrange: 30%
Treble: 90%
Fader: 2 clicks forward or just ahead of passenger ears
I've been listing to HD FM radio, Sirius/XM, and iTunes/via Apple CarPlay. All are greatly improved with these settings, with considerably more clarity. Sure, some music is biased one way other on the Bass-Treble continuum, but overall these sound best to me. My listening preference is acoustic, "unplugged" stuff.
I think a lot of people have mid-range above 50%, and when I do that, I hear the "muddy" sound many refer to. To my ear, the settings above produce max clarity/brightness.

The eq settings are very personal; but it seems almost all agree that the fader sounds better set 1 or 2 clicks forward. Why is this? Are the rear speakers contributing to the muddiness of the sound?

Perhaps it's in part due to fader position, but I think mid-range too high has more to do with it.

I do agree that it is a fuller sound, but to me it also sounds muddier. Try fading all the way back and tell me what you think of the rear speakers.

One thing I know about radio settings is everyone’s ear are different and so are their listening (tone) pleasures. I can give you mine but they will be meaningless to your ears.

You will ALL change your settings when you install the "Block It" mat and the "block it" sound deading behind the carpet,
adhesive stuff. I'm very impressed. For $ 230.+/- it is finally quiet in the rear of my '17 GS. The stuff works.
When going in to the Military, I went into the "sound chamber" for my pre enlist physical, they tested my hearing 2X in Albany
and the next day flew me to Delaware to be tested in a "Super" chamber. Not even accepted yet. The Navy offered me $ 15,000. (1976 $$$)
to enlist with them on a Sub. I hear everything, drives my wife nuts. The mailman, the trash truck, paperboy, cat on a fence, whatever.
This isn't an AD for them but they are on to something if you want a quiet cockpit.
