2014 C7 vs 2016
I have a great deal on 2014 c7 but I am reluctant to buy a first year model. Should I be? is there a major difference between a 2014 and 2016?
let me know your thoughts.

I think the 2014's are very reliable. It has the 6 speed auto which is flawless. 2016 has the 8 speed auto and a D shaped steering wheel. Big difference is the 6 speed auto has less problems than the 2016 auto's. Also 2014 I don't think has the performance data recorder which isn't huge to most people.

The 2016 has the PDR, front cameras, better responding touch screen and Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto which may or may not be a big deal to you, but those features were what convinced me to buy a 2016.

If you're looking for an automatic transmission, many would suggest you go with the 2014.
I have a 2016 7-speed manual, and if I could have found a used 2014 configured the way I wanted it when I ordered mine new, I'd probably have bought the 2014.
The aluminum start button in the 2016 is nice, but not $20k nice.

I was in the same place as you were. I wanted used, but wasn’t sure if I should splurge and get a 2016, but ended up with a good deal on a 2014 Premier Edition. Honestly, the 2016 had a few things I liked (front camera, PDR, etc) but this isn’t going to be my forever car. I’ll start a family in a few years and need to sell it. I’m happy I saved the $10-15k over a 3LT ‘16.

If you are looking for automatic transmission, the '14 A6 is very reliable compared to the A8 on afterward models.

My September 2013 built C7 Z51 was early production. It was back to the dealer only twice (I do my own oil changes.)
First time was when I got it and GM sent a notice I was to have the dif fluid level checked. I watched the newly trained C7 Tech check the level- it was fine!
The second time was just before I sold it 3 1/2 years later to buy a Grand Sport. That was to have the mandated seat belt software updated. That was for the very low probability of the system checking itself just when you got in a crash! But only took 20 minutes!
Hope my 2017 Grand Sport is as reliable! Been a Forum Member since 2007 and followed the many posts on the C7. In general the 2014 may be more reliable than the 2016 as the A6 automatic is more reliable then the A8. ~75% of Vettes are automatic and only ~25% have the M7 as I do!
Also the flat bottom steering wheel in the 2016 and later Vettes is functionally a poor design, IMO, for a car where you have to turn the wheel more than 180 degrees! Fine for some race cars where the driver never takes their hands from the wheel! Glad the designers were not diehard F1 fans or we could have had a double flat wheel! Some Forum Members have advocated that "For The Look!"
Hopefully the Vette Designers Don't Want to Be F1 Posers!
Square wheels are not that funny; when I see some of the 26 inch wheels with rubber band tires in town, bet a 30 inch Pentacontagon (50 side polygon) with rubber band tires would functionally be as good as a flat bottom steering wheel! Some would give up some function to look "Cool!"

2014 was a good year. They have added improvements to the cars over the years. Newer ones have a feature that closes the rear hatch for you so you don’t have to slam it. Also, if you get 2016 or above, the infotainment systems are compatible with Apple Car Play or Android Auto.
Right now the full featured 2014/2015 Corvettes seem to be selling at the same price as a lower trim level new Corvette. Some people sacrifice additional features for a full warranty and new car smell.

The illogical flat bottom steering wheel is about the same as a non round tire, IMO!
Guess for a few, the extra space from their legs may be a help but do they have to spread them when they make a turn? Just tilt the wheel so a round wheel doesn't hit!
It is a "style, poser thing" so perhaps some think if they have the same wheel design as Lewis Hamilton they will be as fast!

My 2014 will be four years old this St. Patrick's Day and it's been a great car! I did have a recall for shocks which GM replaced, but the tech told me that mine were fine but they replaced them anyway. Later I had a recall about air bag software needed to be updated. Took my car in and the tech came back after working on it and said, this was the first and only 2014 that had already been updated! I suspect that my car, which I ordered and had it shipped to me, was one of the cars the factory goes over before shipping it to the dealer. Anyway, so far, it's been the best car I've ever owned.
