State of the A8 transmission?
I've read about all the issues with the A8 transmission - where are they right now with that? Has it been resolved in the new models or are the 18s and 19s still having the same issues?

I hope everyone doesn't take your advice as GM would most likely stop producing Corvettes if they lost 76% of their sales.
I wouldn't lose any sleep worrying about your A8. Keep in mind that there have been over 100,000 C7s produced with A8 transmissions and the vast majority have had no issues, probably only 3%>5%. However many owners with A8 issues come here to report such and seek info. While this is good it makes A8 issues seem FAR MORE widespread than they actually are.

It's probably too early to tell, but the number of problem reports on this forum has significantly diminished.

As I recall, somewhere late in the 2016 model run they changed the transmission fluid for the A8s. If memory serves me correctly, that's when they came out with the triple flush corrective action.
There haven't been many reports of 2017s with A8 failures. The A8 issue was heating up at this time around 2 years ago. While there have been at least a couple 2017s with TC issues, it's just doesn't seem as prevalent as it was with the 2015s, early 2016s. Certainly worth a discussion on this forum.

Stay away from the A8, if you must have an auto, wait for the A10.

The A10 does not fit in the C7 chassis. You’ll be waiting a long time. Also, recent reports are indicating reliability of the A8 has improved starting toward the end of the MY17 model run. Things look promising.

I have an early build 2016 with the A8. TC and stator support replaced at 10K miles. Now have 16K with no further issues. I did buy an extended warranty due to concerns with future issues. A bit disappointed in the overall performance of the GM A8. It is not nearly as responsive as the ZF trannies I have experienced in the BMWs and Audis I have owned.

I just spoke with a salesman an hour ago. A car he sold in November now has the rumble strips symptoms. He said repair shop said first attempt at repair will have something to do with the fuel system. If that doesn’t work then torque converter replacement next. This alleged repair in the fuel system could be another runaround to kill time. I move back to NY in 2 months so I might not be able to get an update on this vehicle. Not worth it to have your car in the shop for a week or 2. Just get a M7 or a 2014.

All four of our A8s (2-'15s, 1-'16, and 1-'17) have been/are great. I know some have had issues and I really am sorry for them. I've been very impressed with ours. A couple of them are over 20k miles and no issues at all. Maybe I'm on borrowed time, but I'm not worrying about it. If one of 'em barfs, they'll fix it.

Perhaps the way to get GM to actually change what it does is to stop buying their cars?
Buy hey, some people will keep buying no matter what garbage you give them. Wait, was I talking cars or politics...same thing.
