Default Insurance Company Question/Anger

My wife and I went with Traveler's a year ago and we just received the new bill raising our rates by 344 bucks! No accidents, no claims, great credit, no changes in cars but because our state insurance commission allowed them to they raised our auto rates by over 20%! Now I'm not a fan of Geico either as they have given radar guns to police depts. to catch speeders to raise their rates so what do you guys recommend?

And PS, I did file a claim with the WA State Insurance Commission (yeah, a lot that will do I know)

Contact an independent agent and have them get multiple quotes from different companies.

Esurance, get a quote. They murdered everyone, esp bundling with homeowners. Backed by Allstate.

That’s what a couple of hurricanes, and fires and mudslides will do.

Since you are in Washington State, try PEMCO. I've been with them since 1976. They are only licensed in WA and OR.

wow I'd be upset also. That increase is literally almost 45% of my yearly rate (assuming that's per person) ... Shop around if it's not too late.... Worst case scenario everyone else is the same or more expensive and you wont feel as bad about the increase. Good luck!

Used to be insured by them (they specialize in educators of which I am one) but left them about 15 years ago when our rates almost doubled because our credit ratings were down (two kids in college simultaneously) but worth another look

They did that to us also, I dropped them and went with the NCM insurance, for all the more we can drive the Corvette here mileage wise in a year a 5000 mile year cap is a non issue.

Great price too.

Do yourself a favor and get quote from Progressive. Good rates, and when it comes to the acid test and you file a claim they step right up. Give'm a try. This my experience over 15 years.

*** Get in the practice of shopping your coverage around once per year. You may be surprised by a better deal. And if you don't get one, that means you're with the best deal.

Louisiana will raise their rates - already one of the highest in the nation

reason - so many people have None (22nd in the nation) but many have the minimal insurance and Louisiana is quick to sue - at high numbers -

we need to make a law - no insurance - you cannot sue - - if you hit me I get nothing - if I hit you - and you should not have been on the road - you can sue me - what is wrong with this....

Liberty Insurance did try the same last year here in Texas to me. No accidents, no changes but $470 more!
I called and they said its because overall claims were up in our State and everyone, their words, will share when this happens!!!
I guess we are now living in a communist society, even here in Texas😡

Esurance for the win...we pay 175/mth for three (the vette being one) cars, all fully covered, 500 deductable, and glass coverage. It is amazing, and they will replace with OEM glass for no charge.

Several people in my club have switched to Grundy. One was in an accident a month later and had no problems being paid. The only limitation seems to be that they won't ensure a daily-driver.

I switched companies this year because due to a ticket (a pretty bad ticket mind you) my company wanted to raise my rates 400% (basically they said, go away). But the new company (Progressive) only raised them 20% which considering the ticket is a good deal.

I think that at the very least every 5 years you have to switch. Unless you never ever get tickets or file a claim. Because if you do anything, even file a not at fault claim, after so much time they will try to "get their money back" from you by raising their rates.

I'm paying $377 a month in Michigan, for two cars, and with a terrible driving record.

Insurance is a good racket. I have Travelers. Every year the rate moves, sometimes up, sometimes down. No rhyme or reason. When it gets excessive, I shop it.
