Default Paint flaw advise

After patiently waiting since November for my first new 2019 to arrive, yesterday was a huge disappointment. Went by to examine the car prior to bringing in the check. On the hood is a half dollar size paint flaw! This is after the car sat in Quality Control for a week. Those at the dealership said no one saw this??? I saw it within a minute of looking at the car. The flaw is a slightly darker color than the rest of the hood. After meeting with the dealership paint guy, he said he had not seen this before. He mentioned the many problems under the old paint shop but had not seen this from the new shop. He was going to spend some time examining it again this morning before making a determination for an appropriate fix. Later today I will hear their resolution. Do you think it is fair that I should receive a discount, even if they have to repaint the entire hood? I am even considering withdrawing my deposit at this point due to the poor quality of service from all. I would appreciate some advise from the Vette Brain Trust.

If the car is not acceptable to you, refuse delivery.

What color is your car. I doubt the dealer will give you a discount. Ask for your deposit back and move on. If you don't take the car all the dealer will do is place it on his lot and maybe the next person will not notice the paint flaw. There is very little quality control at BG, they let the dealers do it.

I agree with post 2.

FWIW I would not accept a non OEM repaint.
However, I would see if polishing would remove the stain (perhaps a bird dodo stain?) first.

Good luck.

Car was wrapped from BG. Car was taken immediately into the showroom. No chance of transport stains or natural causes.

It happens; I had a couple of small hood zits on mine. My dealership paint shop fixed them without question. While they were at it, I had them paint the hood stinger area...way better than a decal.

I wouldnt be crazy about my brand new car having paint work. Is it an option for GM to send a new replacement hood factory painted??

The robots at Bowling Green are programed to paint a full car of parts on a special carrier. Frankly I would rather have a quality painter respray the hood locally than have a manual painter do that at the factory. If there are sight color differences a quality manual sprayer can use air pressure gun distance etc to get the best match.

I'd see what they offer and not pay until you are satisfied.

I had Courtesy Delivery of my Grand Sport. The service manager pointed out to areas with two very small dust spots it appeared under the clear coat. One was in the door opening recess. The other not in an obvious place. I would not have found them! We brought the car to their body shop, the manager fixed the spots so never knew they were there! Great small distributorship.

Refuse it and order another. Way to much $$$$$ to have a flaw new car. Good for you finding it before writting the check. Most folks don't think to look at a new car for flaws but hard to get fixed correctly after you drive off the lot.

Unfortunate to hear about the problems with the hood. I wouldn’t accept delivery until remedied. This is the first thread that I’ve read about issues resulting from the new paint facility. While it might be an isolated incident, I suspect that there will be additional reports as more cars hit the lots.

If you're looking for a discount then you would have to go to GM. Its not the dealers fault it wasn't painted correctly.

I wouldn't worry about a repainted hood. A quality shop can do it and you won't notice the difference. Otherwise you're back to square one and need to order a new one. What if that one has a flaw?

My 2006 C6 Victory Red had the same paint defect that I found it the next day. I already signed the deal and I was registered. So my car was used and the defect was dark purple instead of Victory Red and the size of a dime with a bump or bubble in the paint. I had the fender repainted and it matched perfectly but it always bothered me that my new car was repainted 3 days after I owned it new. So my advice is if it is bad enough that it bothers you and you have not signed the deal get out of the deal and find another car. You will have buyers repaint remorse knowing it was not your fault that caused the repaint but the factories.
