Any way to check/confirm GM mag ride update was done?
#321
Update: I had to open a case with GM to get the programming back to 84375894. They wouldn't allow the dealer to do it so now it's between me and GM. I was perfectly happy with the car....I guess I should have ignored the recall. Case has been opened. This will be fun. They
did, however, send me a nice picture of the guys who organized the calibration upgrade:

Just got home from finally getting the update on my 2017 GS w/o Z07. TIS readout is as it should be:
84421869 - Real Time Damping
I immediately noticed the difference as did many others, even before letting it sit for 8 hours. And I really tried to ignore "human nature" telling me something good happened for my money. It was truly more dampened! Bumps and manholes and cracks and buckles in the pavement were, well, dampened out...in all modes. Very pleased.
(Plus, they said it would be $350 but when they came back after it was done, they said it was only $175. Win-win.)
Shout out to Simpson Chevrolet in Irvine, CA. Service Manager Roger Abbott, Service Advisor Colin Dresser, and the programming Tech Steve Green all treated me very well and professionally. In and out in about 45 minutes, and that was with some waiting for another car to get programmed for something.

Just did the GS 1869 update and after a little driving, I can very much tell the difference in tour/eco mode - much smoother now. Can't wait to see what track mode has in store when I get back to some tracks in about a month.

I had the MRC upgrade accomplished on my '17 GS today. When I checked the TIS site after, all is as expected with the new calibration Part# shown.
It really is a simple thing if the dealer knows what to do. What's interesting is that when the technician calls the GM Techline, a GM Tech operator at the mothership simply enters the VIN into the system, the operator then asks the technician a few questions, and confirms the information. The operator then reconfigures the vehicle's master file with, in this case, the appropriate part# for the MRC upgrade, confirms the dealer responsible charge ($350) to the customer for the upgrade, and warns the technician of the 8-10 hour temp compensation time. Once the operator confirms reconfiguration of the vehicle's master software, the phone call is done. All the technician does from there is to connect the OBD controller to the dealer's Service Programming System computer, connect the OBD to the vehicle, and follow the proper Document ID installation instructions. The technician has no control over the master software file of the vehicle. Those changes are all made by the Techline operator, and the GM mothership.
I decided to leave the car at the dealership overnight so it could go through its temp compensation sit. Although we all know that car can be driven lightly following the upgrade, and it states such in the installation instructions, the Techline operator was adamant about letting the car sit following the software flash. I could, so I did.
I'll report in after I've had a chance to evaluate the difference in handling and share the dealer that took care of it. If all goes well, this dealer would be a great option for the Phoenix area folks.

I drove the car around and home this afternoon after the upgrade, and after letting it sit overnight at the dealer for the temp comp process.... I can't add any more than everyone else that has had the upgrade, other than the difference is very notable, and very welcomed to the city/cruising driving experience.
Shout out to Coulter on Camelback Phoenix. While not a Chevy dealer, they fully understand Mag Ride as a Cadillac dealer. They got it done, no fuss - no muss.

Once the upgrade is accomplished your TIS info should show only one line under the Calibration History for: Real Time Damping. For your car that single line Part # should be 84353677.

Parkway Chevrolet in Tomball did mine a couple of months ago. The service advisor didn't seem knowledgeable about it but I provided the letter and it went well, no complaints and I do notice the improved ride.

What letter? I think thats the problem I am having, I can't get the dealers to understand what this is.
