Anyone drove their C7 to Spring Mountain?
I'm in California and will be attending the class at Spring Mountain end of this month. Any reason I should or should not drive my GS there? Will be staying in Vegas a few nights afterward. Debating whether I should take my SUV or the GS.

If you mean parking in a place or area that it won't get banged up, you'll find plenty of places in Vegas and Pahrump. Drive it.

It really depends on how long the trip is. I drove to SM from the SF peninsula with two other cars. We hit heavy rain through the central valley and nearly two hours of traffic delays at Boron before highway 395 which made the trip a very long day. If I were to do it again, I'd fly to Vegas and rent a car unless I could make it a 2-day trip and enjoy a top along the way.

They warned me to watch the speed limit on HWY 160 from Vegas when I set up our visit for April 24-26. Said the law likes to hand out "Welcome to Nevada" souvenirs.

There were several guys who drove theirs when I attended last March. No reason not to, other than be careful leaving as you speed scale will be off (and they run you of this).

I drove mine from the Philly area. Hit places like Bowling Green, Nashville and Memphis on day one. Got as far as Conway, AR before I ran out of steam. Picked up Route 66 in Tulsa and criss-crossed 66 and 40 from there to AZ. Stayed in Flagstaff and Sedona and checked out the Grand Canyon. Saw the damn Dam, the Cozy Cone, and countless extinct businesses and gas stations. Did a 2 day at SM. Finished on July 3rd. Stayed in Beverly Hills then I then hit coastal California on July 4. I cruised North checking out famous surf spots while being flanked by convertibles, motor homes and biker gangs. Stayed in Monterrey, Napa/Sonoma then finally headed East. Drove my C7 on Bonneville, cruised thru Yellowstone, stayed in Cody, had a beer in Sturgis, etc. If you have a chance to drive out, use America’s Sports Car to, well..., see America.

My wife and I drove our 2015 from North Carolina to Pahrump and then back to Vegas before returning to NC. Great trip. On the way, went to numerous tourist destinations, such as White Sands, NM... Petrified forest... and even a short stop in Roswell, NM. Many other stops, but a great trip.

From California? That's a short drive. Is there a drive that is too long for the Corvette?

I'm not sure. Could be 190. I just typed in "desert highway" into Google's image search and picked a picture. But I have been on that road before myself. I've often driven in Death Valley and it is one of those places where you contemplate exactly what you car is capable of...

This is why I drove my Vette from TX to Spring Mountain;
Unser Museum in Albuquerque NM
I believe the GM Engineers back in Milford put round wheels on Corvettes for a purpose.

We drove our 2017 GS up from our place in Tucson. Met friends in Laughlin after and made a mini vacation of it. There was only one other person from California who had his car there. If you're close enough to drive - DO IT!

I think you meant Hwy 395, which, BTW, is an beautiful drive when you come down Hwy 120 through the pass in Yosemite and you have 14,000 ft Mt Whitney on one side and flat grasslands on the other.

If you bought it to drive and enjoy.... by all means do so.
I took 2 weeks and drove my new Z51 to Spring Mountain from New Jersey. Did about 100 miles on old rt 66 in Arizona, Hoover Dam and stops at Zion NP, Bryce Canyon and Arches NP. before heading home.

It is a really nice drive from So Cal to Pahrump. Take the 15 to Baker and then cut over to Pahrump on the 127 to 178. You will pass by Dumont Dunes and a lot of really nice scenery.
