Default 1st Car Club Tour in my C7: Painters Tape and other questions

I am taking my first car club tour in my C7 in a few weeks and I'm planning to tape up the front of the car and side mirrors something like this:

Anyone have any tips and tricks? 3M Blue Painters Tape ok? The car has a fresh coat of wax on it from a month ago, but I might wash and rewax the front just to make sure the tape comes off easier.

Also, looking for any other tips on purchases:
- 2 way radios
- Portable air pumps
- Fix a flat
- Anything else you can think of I might need

Caution: Masking tape & Painters tape have "CLEAN REMOVAL" time ratings. This is the time before the adhesive starts to transfer to the surface it is sticking to. Ever see masking tape that has been on a surface too long? Tough to remove.
There are 2 Blue tapes, one has a has a 3 day "Clean removal" rating before transfer starts and one has a 3 day rating. Green has a 60 day rating.
Tape rating charts: Select wisely

You are kidding us right?
Yep, a therapist

I was actually thinking of taping up my driver side door sills if ever taken in for service to keep the tech's black boots from leaving ugly scuff marks all over it, but thought that's too crazy.

Do yourself a favor, Get Expel or a nylon bra

While another member, ls3zob, would be elated to see so much blue tape (he has invested in 3M stock ), get expel as said earlier. The blue tape won't really give u any protection...

Taking another car would save considerable time and stress. Minimum get a Novi stretch front bra for bugs. Maximum drive it and enjoy it, wash car when done. Any little chips shows your enjoying your car.

Nothing shows you’re enjoying your car quite like being too scared to drive it without making it look ridiculous. You should bubble wrap it too in case you get door dinged or something.

I cannot believe you would consider a road trip and not allow for full driver/passenger protection too....

While some of the comments here may be taken as a little over the top, the message is just relax. It's a car and trying to keep it perfect is impossible.

I've gone though the same OCD anxiety in the past, and it's really just not worth it.

I even passed on Expel this time. I've got a bottle of Dr. Color Chip, and I keep a good distance behind the cars in front of me when I go on cruises.

As someone jokingly mentioned above, are you going to cover the windshield?

We are all falling victim to the growing hype about wrapping and coating cars. It's no different than the 3,000 mile oil change hype.

These things are not collectors' items. I get that we all want our cars perfect, and I respect someone's decision to baby their cars, but what I have learned over the years is that all the anxiety does is preserve a car for the next owner at the expense of me enjoying my car.

If you are that worried, just get a inexpensive nose bra from GM. Looks better and it's much easier to put on and remove. I couldn't imagine driving my car in public taped up like that! It's a joke, right?

While most understand the desire for some protection, I'm thinking you might get some interesting looks from your new car club if you showed up with the car looking like that, too.

Like others have said, if you are worried about that sort of thing and plan to drive the car on such trips often, you should probably look at having PPF installed as a permanent solution.

FWIW, instead of using up all the painter's tape, you could consider a spray-on rock guard like this one:

https://www.autozone.com/landing/pag...der-spray-film

or maybe some TRACWRAP like this one:

http://www.xpel.com/xpel-tracwrap-temporary-ppf/

Anyway, this kind of solution might be worth a look. It is not all that unusual to see cars with this type of protection at vintage races.
