What is your opinion on the stinger stripe on the hood of the C7?
I don't have a stinger hood stripe but really like the way they look. I just wish they were painted as I have a hard time with stickers. How is the quality of the stinger stripe on you guys that got them compared to the rest of the paint on the hood and hood vents? I remember when I got my car wrapped in XPEL the installer said if my car came with a hood stinger he said he could not wrap that part with the Xpel film. Thanks Dave

A couple years and going strong. I treat it the same way I do with the painted surfaces as far as cleaning and waxing. I had a couple GT500s with over-the-top vinyl stripes and never had any issues with them either...

I question what it will look like in a few years.
all that heat soak and the sun... might be like old the 70s station wagons looked in the 80's. Cracked and faded.
but then that's probably what the expel will look and it will match 😕😕

I liked the look of it, so I got it on my 14 Z51 when I pre-ordered it in 2013. 4.25 years later it sitting a lot in the hot Texas sun, it still looks new without any chipping or fading.
You can't really tell it's a "sticker" unless you're looking real close to it.
If you like the look, I'd recommend you get it.

I have the stripe painted on, and the whole hood re-clear coated so that its smooth all the way across the hood. Cost the same $500 as the sticker from GM.
In fact most of the vette guys around here have it painted on now

Do you have any pictures of your hood to show us how it came out?

Dear Always,
I've been back and forth in my mind whether I'm down with the Stinger stripe, or not. Since that's the case with me, I'd not opt for one. When I was 18 yrs. old, the black Stinger on a C2's engine hood, indicated the 427 c.i. engine - IIRC. I thought it was bada**! Now? Not so much. But I'm an old conservative in tastes, C7 owner.

I like the look of Stingers, especially on my Blade Silver as it ties in nicely with the other black components.
Paints great, however I like the tape as you can't tell it's tape unless you look real close and it's so easily replaced if damaged or if you ever get tired of it.
Not so much with paint.

Well, mine's the factory "sticker" kind and have had no problems with it coming up on 4 years now, next month. If it hadn't come with one (bought the car off the showroom floor), I would have had one painted on. I love the look and it just goes with the Z51 Carbon Flash spoiler in the back.

Well since you asked for my OPINION, I personally prefer it nice and clean without one. But I also am in the minority and prefer the nice clean lines of the Stingray over the wide bodies. But that's one of the things that is great about the C7, it comes in so many different configurations that it's easy to please everyone!

I like it, especially on the lighter/brighter colors like Acrtic White, Racing Yellow, and Torch Red.
I also like the painted option when they wrap the paint around the front vent. I think it looks cleaner and the cost for a pro to paint it is around the same price as the GM vinyl.
I really like this one from the Caravaggio custom build a couple of years ago with the parameter pin stripe...
