I guess everyone's different, but my wife has always supported my car hobby. She loves it as much as I do and Corvettes have been a part of our relationship since we were first dating.
She's stuck with me through a used C5, C6 and now she absolutely loves my C7. She insisted I order the exact car I wanted.
Here she is at a 4th of July parade we did while she was pregnant with my son, and also she insisted the C7 be my 4th groomsmen at my wedding:

My Wife came home one day and told me about this Arctic White C7 Vert she saw. I had a red 2008 Coupe at the time. She said we should check out the C7. We did and purchased it a 2015 ordered Vert M7. This past Winter in Florida we saw a Blade Silver Z06 Vert and both of said wow that looks hot. Well a 2019 Blade Silver Vert Z06 now sits in the garage.
My Wife loves the Corvettes, has no desire to drive them but does love cruising and the occasional spirited burst of power.

OP. Assuming you have the financial means, just buy one and tell your wife you bought one. She might be a bit jealous because you have a bit more horsepower than she does, but she will get over it.

My wife encourages me every time I buy one. She also drives a Vette and is on her second one. So I always tell her I am buying one and she gets excited.

She bought her current Vette on a whim on Saturday morning while I was at the office. She didn't ask me and didn't need to.

Easy. Dont get a wife. That way you get to spend all your own money on your own toys without needing approval. If you want to get laid for cheap then Plenty of fish, tinder and backpage have many options for you that cost way less than a wife will (she will cost you a lot more if you get divorced and have kids so lets not even go there).

Wife is usually marriage.Meaning relationship between your best friend and partner.Till death do us part. Some last, some not. It's what you want and put into it.A give and take so to speak.
We work and worked hard together. We both decided..With some MAJOR,Relentless hinting, then finally...Ohh Yea
She enjoys the Vert more than the Back of a Harley...Little Safer Too
The Harley Stays

Default Trophy Wife

My wife wanted the C7. It is her DD. And she wanted our C6 before it. And the C3. And so it goes.

As in Indiana Jones, choose wisely. My wife had zero issues with me buying a C7. But, like all things in life, you have plenty of hints. I dated a girl who told me in no uncertain terms that I was supposed to slow down for curves, not speed up. Ditched her. Learning from that I realized you need to test the waters for compatibility. Another woman was treated to some high Gs going around a few highway cloverleaf interchanges - she said "that was fun". She is now my wife. Don't marry a woman who thinks a car is an appliance or you will surely be in for continual arguments as to why you want to spend money on fun cars.

^^^
It's easy. I told her she is much better at picking colors (which she is) and let her select the exterior and interior color for the Grand Sport.

However I had no choice of the color of the new BMW X5 SUV she got a few weeks ago! About the same price as the Vette!

Never have a problem with her concerned about me driving the Vette fast! I don't when she is with me BUT that is very seldom! When she is, I have to drive like and old man! Never exceed 3000 rpm! At 75 can understand her concern and when we are out together I always drive, but her SUV-slowly!

However when I drive my Vette, I frequently hit redline in 3rd on the ~3/4 mile road near my home that is between two farm fields, no homes and no traffic! If she knew when I drive her SUV by myself, that I press the Sport button on the BMW and take some corners fast-she would not let me use it again! Someone has to spool-up those twin turbos!

Hmmm... you get one shot at this thing called life. When its time to go, it won't matter how much $$ you have left unspent, you won't be able to buy a minute more. As long as you have the disposable income on hand, use it for what its intended for... living your life the way you want. If ZR1 ownership is an experience you want and it brings you enjoyment (it sure would to me!) then go for it! If the wife isn't on board, then its your job to find out why she is thwarting your attempts to enjoy life to its fullest... there is a problem there that needs to be addressed and it has nothing to do with the car.. Sermon over..

Now post up the pics of the new ZR1 when you take delivery!

This same conversation just came up with some co-workers when someone exclaimed their wife wouldn't let him get a motorcycle. He used to ride before getting married, then his wife said she'd get a divorce if he bought one. While I've heard this trash before, I still get pretty excited every time I hear it.

We all come into marriage being independent; having been single and developed years and years of likes and dislikes. Is it anyone's right to take those away just because some vows are committed to? The success of our marriage has been to let each other enjoy our independent thinking; all the while being committed to the one another in the main focal points of what it means to be in wedlock.

If you want to buy a motorcycle because that's what you like to do, why should a wife snip the nuts of a guy and tell him no? You can use that analogy for anything. It's a concept I've never understood. Thank God for the person I have in my life.

I should note that if there are financial concerns, then that's a whole different subject. Then as a couple, there should be "two to go, one to say to no."

Been with my wife for 40 years so she's used to me. I did tell the sales guy the last time that I should call my wife before I sign the papers. She just uses it at certain times and says "well since you got a new car"...now my kids are another story. They give me grief every time I get something new. Our DD's are leases and I'm not good about making it to the end without trading. My truck is about to go so let the grief continue.

One of my good buddies was into motorcycles in the '80's (still is actually). He wanted one more and his wife (now ex) told him that if he bought that next bike, she was leaving for good. As she said that, the bike was in the back of his truck in the driveway. She kept her word and was gone.
He brags that the divorce cost him a total of $7.00. I don't know hoe he pulled that off!
