Ok so i'm considering this 2014 z51 3LT (considering ) and looking into if it has MRC. The dealer believes it does not. Says Corvettes with MRC have yellow shocks! Truth? Here's the VIN if this gives clues
I ran a car fax and it looks to of had 2 registered owners but the milage doesnt add up.
- VIN : 1G1YK2D76E5101028

If it's completely OEM, black shocks are MSRC. Yellow are standard.
However, to confirm, they're not after-market, you need to look at the shocks to verify the wiring going to each shock. You can also see the wires running from the top of the shock tower to a junction point under the hood. You see the wiring for all 4 there.

Top of Right front shock on Z51 with mag ride. Note the wire attached to the top of the shock.

I'm confused. The VIN you listed is different from the VIN in the CARFAX. Which is the correct VIN?
The VIN in the Carfax has the FE3 suspension. Mag ride is FE4.

You can not tell just sitting in the car in a parking lot.
However, take into account the driver should have driven a car with mag ride to know what that difference is.

Correct, the dial on all C7s also controls throttle mapping, AFM (V4/V8 mode), NPP (if equipped), display type, TC, DSC, and MSRC (if equipped).

To be sure you have a Z51 look for a dry sump tank! They look for the wires coming from the top of the shock- assuming they are black!
All C7's have a **** to adjust driving mode. Did it all the time in my Z51 without MRC to change the levels the nannies activated etc. Switched to Weather Mode when below 45F, normally drove in Sport Mode. BUT changing that **** did not change the ride, nothing to make that happen! The shocks, springs and sway bar did not know I was changing the ****! The stiffnes was always between MRC set at Touring and Sport.

If you're driving the car, especially over a rough road, yes then you should be able to feel the difference between the Tour and Sport modes. Just let me add, I have not updated the program on my Z51 yet so not sure how different the ride is with the updated program.

I guess I assumed it (the dial) was only on cars with MRC, hence my reply of looking for the dial if he wants to know if the car has the MRC option. Seems easier than getting under the car and seeing what color the shocks are.

Yes I had the exact same **** on my none MRC Z51 as I do on my Grand Sport.
No need to get under the car you can see the rear shocks through the rear wheels. That yellow stands out!
There are many things the **** does. This is a comparison between my Z51 (that had no affect on the ride as it was NT MRC) and my Grand Sport that does.
Made this comparison to show for my Z51, which I always drove in Sport, that was max Throttle Response. To match that with my Grand Sport would have to drive in Track. On the street that rattles your teeth! I added a Vitesse Throttle Controller and can set it wherever I want. Typically I use 4 or 5 which feels like what I had with my Z51 set at Sport = Track in 2014.

What did you mean, "...the mileage doesn't add up"? THAT would be of more concern to me. Too many C7s out there to consider one that might be wonky, imho. All the best whatever you decide!

Mag ride position is determined by what mode you are in. In the previous generations you had a switch on your console that controlled just the ride. With C7 the ride will be determined by what mode you are in. Tour=smother ride. Sport & Track stiffer. Plus the tour sport & tracks kicks in other handling changes, If you are not sure if you have it just open the hood and if you have a wire going to the top of your shocks you have it.
