9 speaker vs 10 speaker

9 speaker vs 10 speaker
I always thought C7s were 9 speakers but sometimes I see 10 (listed in ads). Im assuming this is all the normal premium bose but why sometimes 9 sometimes 10?

I believe the standard 9-speaker Bose system comes in the 1LT and the 10-speaker comes in the 2LT, 3LT.

^^^ Kevin nailed it... same w/the 1LZ (9) and 2 & 3LZ (10). Here’s some related info: http://www.corvetteblogger.com/2013/...ette-stingray/

I’ve got the 1LT with the 9 speaker system. It sounds great with the windows up, but if you take the roof off and head out on the highway it sounds a bit weak. The subwoofer in the 10 speaker system probably helps with this.
Its strange to me that the stereo sounds as weak as it does with the roof off. I guess the roof helps with the accoustics. The Monsoon stereo in my ‘98 Camaro SS sounds incredible even with the roof off on the highway at 80 MPH. You would think that the Corvette’s stereo would be better.

All I can say is that I have owned several GM vehicles with “high end” Bose systems.....and they sucked. But my 10 speaker system in my GS is awesome. Perfect balance of Bass and acoustically sound......and one that I cant say “It would be great if I could add”..... its great as-is....
Dont’t know anything about the 9 speaker option. I think the difference is the sub in the rear that is part of the 10?

I'm an audiophile as well. While I agree with you that both systems need help at the high end...the difference in that 10th "speaker" is the sub itself. I've owned a few Chevys, Cadillacs, Lexuses, Toyotas before...and the sub in the Corvette is definitely a difference maker... if you like rap/hip-hop or want something boomy. Each person has their own taste preference when it comes to music. The bass is definitely there with the 10 speaker setup. The 9 speaker setup is almost identical, but if you like bass..you'll prob need to add a subwoofer. No need with the 10 speaker system

The 9-speaker system is horrible and already has way too much boomy bass.

Melting Slicks
I have owned both, and unless you just like extra-boomy mid-bass at an unnatural volume compared to the rest of the music, the 9 & 10 speaker stereos (once you dial out all that excess boominess) sound the same
I think you could have stopped after the sentence in red - the Bose in the C7 sucks compared to every other manufacturers high end system - the Harmon Kardon on my Jeeps just blows the C7's Bose away.

The C7 Bose sucks compared to most entry-level base stereo systems as well.
The Bose is our Volt Premium is pretty decent.

I don't think it's *that* bad. My Macan has their optional Bose system, and it may be worse. I upgraded that system with Burmester OEM tweeters, which helped a bit. I may upgrade the tweeters in the Vette also.

The 9 speaker system in my 1LT Stingray sucked bad. I swear it was worse than the Bose system in my old '01 Z06. My current 2LZ Z06 system sounds much better than the Stingray because of the added sub.
