9 speaker vs 10 speaker

My '14 3lt has the ten speaker system with one back on the rear of the trunk in the convertible. My '17 3lz vert has ten with speakers behind each head rest and sounds much better. A fully loaded trunk on the 14 vert also hurts the base sound from that speaker in the rear of the trunk. Does that make sense! Looked at the stickers one says Bose Premium with 10 speaker surround. The 17 says Chev My Link Audio system and premium surround. Speakers appear to be the same grill locations in both, makes me wonder why the '17 sounds better

I think you could have stopped after the sentence in red - the Bose in the C7 sucks compared to every other manufacturers high end system - the Harmon Kardon on my Jeeps just blows the C7's Bose away.[/QUOTE]
HK’s are nice, I wont disagree. I’d take that over a Bose any day if it were an option. But....it wasn’t.....

Other than the sub, geez 9 speakers sounds like plenty even 8 sounds like a lot-wouldn't complain about 7 or 6 speakers if they were quality speakers. BTW I know diddly about sound systems.....so I am happy as a pig in chit with my 10 speaker sound system.

I agree. The Bose system in my Volt is quite good, although I find it lacking at very low volume. I don't understand why it is so much better than any Bose system that I have heard in a Corvette.

I have the 10, it's OK. I built a better system in my daily driver BUT at least the system can keep up with wind noise with the top off...all I care about. The stock C6 non Bose blew ducks so I think in general the C7 sound is much better.

This thread proves one thing YOU CAN PLEASE SOME OF THE PEOPLE SOME TIME BUT NOT ALL OF THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME

I don't think it has anything to do with taste. Each person hears music differently. I will say the worst Bose system out of all the ones I've had was in my 2010 Cadillac CTS-V. It was supposedly the high-end option on the car and it was just terrible. Most guys who owned those cars agreed.

But found Joss Stone (a modern Joplin sound on some songs) the Bass was so Boomy I had to significantly lower the volume or skip the song, from over 1000 playing in shuffle mode when I start the car.
However a post mentioned what he did to adjust Bass with a press of a Preset button- but without all the details. I now have three buttons I can press for Bass to match those songs that are too Boomy! Works great. As good as the amp, subwoofer and custom enclosure I made for my old modified S10. That amp had a remote adjustment **** I mounted on the console!

My C6 3LT needed a subwoofer! Not easy to add in a Bose system! My 3LT Z51 and now 2LT Grand Sport have the extra subwoofer in a tuned enclosure in the rear. IMO really makes a difference (if you set tune and balance "properly.") The C7, especially my Grand Sport coupe is very noisy from tires/road. I have the sound system playing 99% of the time. Janis Joplin singing "Cry Baby" does a great job of drowning out the noise!

I have owned and driven a couple of C7 with the 9 and the 10 speaker....
I can not hear any noticeable improvement with the 10.
Of course..... I am old!

Fortunately I can block that hi-pitch sound out 100% mentally and only hear it when I purposely think about it- like now, it's loud!
Need the Bass loud enough that you can occasionally feel a note! Not like the 40,000 hp of "4-wide" AA/Fuel dragsters at the zMax Dragway but at least to some degree!

Zombie post here.
The build sheet on my car states 9 spkr system but I count 10. It is a 14 Z51 3LT. Were the later yrs different in some way? There are 3 in the dash, 2 in each door, 2 behind the seats and 1 in the rear by the battery in my car (which equates to 10) despite the 9 speaker build sheet thing. I noticed that a newer (19 2LT I test drove) had way better sound that the car I bought and wondered if the hardware or the software changed between the years.
Anyone have any info on this? I have spent too much time reading threads about the audio and haven't found an answer to this yet.

The difference in sound you are hearing is probably due to the settings on the sound system, and not the system itself. Mine sounded terrible when I bought it, but after tweaking the settings, it sounds great!

My 19 Z06 is a 1LZ. 9 speakers. Don’t know how long this will be in my car. My C5 Z06 was all sound deadening and awesome system. I think I will be adding almost the same setup down the road in my new Z.
