Z06 or Carbon 65 GS?
I was all set to order a 2019 Z06 2LZ. But I have an option to purchase a 2018 Carbon 65 (painted in the new paint shop) GS for relatively the same price.
I want a Z06 but love the looks of the Carbon 65 GS (can’t afford the C65 Z06) The fact is though, I only keep cars for about a year and move onto something else. Maybe the ME depending on how it looks.
My thought/question is, the Carbon should hold better resale value.
Anyone disagree or have a reason they would not purchase the Carbon 65 and get the Z06 instead?

There is also a Z06 Carbon edition as well. Both look really good.

Thanks but as I stated in my thread, I can’t afford the C65Z. The Z06 I will be purchasing and C65 GS are about the same price, roughly $92,000.
It is a limited production car though. There will be 100 to 1 Z06’s in comparison.
If I don’t purchase the C65 GS, then it will be a Z06. I do really like the looks of the C65.

Hmm you say you can't afford the C65Z, yet you only keep your cars for a year.....hmmm that math doesn't calculate to me. I'm thinking that if you can afford the loss you take after selling a car after only one year.....oh well.

I don’t want to turn this into a financial statement but the fact that I can buy a new car every year means that I don’t take a large hit when I sell them. I do not pay anywhere near MSRP for a vehicle, even for a newly ordered Z06.

Believe me, I wasn't trying to turn it into a financial statement either. I just found the two comments in the same paragraph interesting. I haven't paid anywhere near MSRP either, but have not often seen a situation where I sell in a year and not take a loss. I was saying that you really probably can afford the C6Z especially if you get it for well under MSRP.

Your preference is all that matters for your car, however I would go with the Z06 or a standard GS. The Carbon 65 is a $15,000 badging package. It most likely won't hold it's value as well as a Z06 or standard GS in a more mainstream exterior color.

I think the answer is more about if you're buying the car for looks or for power....two totally different things. If what floats your boat is the go pedal, then the Z06, if it is the overall look, go for the C65.

GM does a collectors edition pretty much every year (I have a GSCE). The problem I see with them is that they are not that exclusive to where people should think the value will be that much greater than any other Corvette of that year.
Taking the example of the C65, you can order that color on a non-collector edition version. You can also order all of the carbon fiber. You can essentially build up all of that on any car, you just don't get the badging. That is what is unique. Personally I think they need to do more to make those car truly unique.
In the case of the GSCE, the WGG was the most popular color for that year, so it is not an uncommon color. The blue was unique, you could only get it on that car, but it is also something that does not appeal to everyone so your resale market is limited.
Anyone thinking that a Corvette collector edition (any of the recent years) will hold a higher value (note I did not say appreciate) than a car of that same vintage is dreaming IMHO. Great if it does, but it should not be a reason for purchasing that car.
The Premier edition may be an exception I suppose for a few reasons, but I would not make it a reason for purchasing one of these cars....even some of the more rare combinations of colors or options I don't think are going to go crazy in value....stay away from resale value based on those factors. I would think more broadly, is a GS going to hold value better than a Z06 for example (I don't have that answer :-)

My suggestion would be go with the Z06 simply because as you've stated you only have it for a yr or so. The body style is the same and you said the price is the same. Get the Z and have fun for a yr. If you were keeping it for many years, then I'd go the GS route. Good Luck.

If you are only going to keep it a year and both are priced the same the Z06 will be worth more in a years time.

Do you like the C65 appearance so much that you would regret not having one each time you sit down in the Z06? I think the answer to that question is the guiding decision to make. What good is spending that much on a vehicle that makes you regret not getting something else instead?

Thanks for all of your reply’s everyone.
To answer a few of them. The Carbon Edition has certainly held a higher value on the C6. Why would it not be the same on the C7? I believe it certainly will.
It’s not just badging, the car is loaded with all options, CF, GT seats, 3lt interior, Blue calipers that are specific to the CF65, Stage 2 ground effects and more.
This will be my 7th Vette. I’ve owned 4 Z06’s. They are awesome cars! But part of me says the CF65 won’t be around next year, the Z06 will. But since I don’t get attached to cars...resale is what’s most important to me.
