Default Is black that bad?

So Iíve never owned a black vehicle but I think there one of the sharpest looking color when clean. For those that have a black c7 are they that bad to keep clean?

I end up washing mine at least once a week, and sometimes more. You notice everything on black. When it's clean though, it's sharp. Mine is a black Z07 with the satin black wheels and red calipers and looks really nice but after a few days you can see the dust build up and it starts to bug me. When you do wash, you have to be careful to get all the water out of body seams and such so that you don't end up with drip marks later. I blow it dry then wipe it down with Griot's and a good microfiber towel. Wife thinks I'm nuts, but a man's got to do what a man's got to do.

Mine is black and I love it... but it is some extra work if you are picky about keeping it clean. I detail it twice a year and beyond that, it is a combo of rinseless wash that takes about 20 mins or quick detailer that takes about 10 minutes or a California Duster that takes about 2 minutes. (And no, I have never had a problem caused by the California Duster). So I might do a little more than some to keep the car looking very clean, I really do not spend all that much time doing it. I also have a white car and I clean it just as much. It is not a big deal to me and I kinda enjoy it.

My C5 was black and it was my last black car ever (I said this in the past, but this time I mean it!) It really is difficult to keep it looking it's best, you see every speck of dust that lands on it, you see every minor imperfection, and if you don't dry it absolutely perfectly when you wash it, you see every streak. It's just too much work, IMO. I'm loving my Torch Red, it is a lot less work to keep it looking it's best.

If you are really picky how it looks on a daily basis, then yes it's a pain in the butt. If you can enjoy it for the few hours after you wash and wax and it's spotless then move on and not freak out when the first bird bombs it; it's OK. Other than that, buy a different color; my next one WON'T BE BLACK.

No worse than my LeMans blue. Any dark color shows dust but a quick drive around the block blows most of it off.

I agree that black is one of the best cars- when freshly washed and waxed. If you are picky, like most corvette owners, it will become a second job. I have had three colors of corvette but not black. I have had two black suvs (which I also doted over) and I spent a lot of time trying to keep them looking good. Working full time I just canít bring myself to buy a black vette. I am also in a vette club that attends shows and participates in parades and events, adding to the pressure of keeping the car looking good. Perhaps when I retire or win the lottery I will get a black vetted.

I'd buy a black Corvette without thinking twice of the chore of keeping it clean. I wash my car once a week, and wax it whenever I have time.

I think it has to do with how fastidious you are about keeping it clean. If you are the type of person who is bothered by every imperfection, it may not be the color for you. However, if you can stand a little dirt for a while, it won't be a problem.

I love doesn't my black C6. When clean, nothing looked as sharp. But after a cleaning you could drive a mile and the car was dirty again.

Still, I love a black car.

Black is definitely worse than LeMans Blue IMO, because I immediately went from my black C5 to a LeMans Blue C6 and I enjoyed a bit of a break with the blue when I made that switch. LMB definitely does not show the dust or scratches as easily as black.

Black isn't that bad. I just sold my two black C5's and my Black Yukon Denali XL but still have my wife's black Lexus. Yes I had four black vehicles for that past four + years. The cars were much easier to maintain then the suv and the truck. :-)

I always said, nothing sexier than a black Corvette! I still believe that. My first Vette was a black C6. As others have already said, it was very hard to keep looking clean. About 15 minutes after cleaning the dust layer would form. My C7 is a dark color, but not black.

Black is my favorite color for someone else to own...haha.

I've had many and have 2 now.If it's your only car,not too much work, but we have 4 cars and seems the 2 black cars are always getting washed.

My last 2 new cars were white and the '17 C7 is AW.

black on a car...it's not a color, it's a career choice!

I put in my time on two black vehicles over the years...one a 2002 Firehawk that I did a lot of shows with. For me, that falls on the list of things I'm glad I did, but wouldn't want to do again.

Agree totally - also had a Black C5 Vert and now driving a Torch Red C7. The moment you drove the Black C5 anywhere it looked dusty.

Black is a great color on the C7--but you have never owned a black car. Questions: are you good at detailing your car once or twice a year, or are you a wash it once in awhile and just drive it guy who is better suited to more forgiving colors, like silver?

I have black and it's my first ever black car but I've been detailing and keeping a long line of sports cars of various other colors clean, so black isn't any more work than I would be doing. And I'm the type of person that won't drive a dirty looking car. So spring, summer and fall when I'm driving my c7 any day it's not raining, I spend 15 minutes a day in the morning, going over the car with a california duster, and detailing spray, sometimes a waterless wash product, wash it every week using DI water and own a car dryer, detail it twice a year to keep the finish up, etc...

For me, black was the best color especially in a convertible--looks like the batmobile and with all the black accents, it's the closest you can come to monochromatic color. Mine's quadruple black, btw: paint, top, interior and wheels--all black.

Just had one black car so far. Not much to add--it's a challenge. But the C7 Looks SOOOO GOOD in black I am really tempted.
