Default Going to look at a 2017 GS - What should I keep an eye out for?

I am heading out after work to look at a private party 2017 Grand Sport 3LT. What should I be looking for on inspection?

The first thing that came to my mind was paint quality at the seams of the body panels?

Thanks for any input.

Here's the listing for reference:

Manuals are pretty stout. Autos had the problems. You have another 30k or so of warranty left anyway.

edit: why is the hood insert painted? has the car been wrecked?

Bent wheels - any vibrations when driving but if you can have someone check for excessive runout that's best.

Option "BODY COLOR EXTERIOR VENTS" was specified at build.

EDIT TO ADD:
1) Absolutely get the service history (via a VIS report) from a GM dealer using the car's VIN. This will detail for you any warranty work performed, the car's in-service date (to guage remaining warranty), and any warranty blocks of which GM is currently aware.

2) Get the seller to put it in writing (preferrably in the sales agreement) that the car or its electronics have NOT been modified or "tuned" in any way -- including handheld consumer devices like a diablo or similar. If the car has been 'tuned', it can cause a warranty block, and it's not easy for the dealer to detect it until such time that you make a warranty claim, at which point, of course, it's too late. "I didn't know it was tuned when I bought it" is not an acceptable defense.

Sure, the seller can lie, but at least with it in writing you have a chance at recourse.

The painted hood & vents is an available option and is listed on the window sticker.

Drive it make sure the trans shift properly listen for any funny noises from the rear end at around 45 mph. ,Check service records also check if it's been wrecked, check how much warranty is left. If you know a GOOD mech. take it to him for a second opinion, two eyes are always better than one. If something doesn't jive ,run not walk away, it's your money been smart.

Wheels can be tough to check without getting them on a machine, but definitely a concern as is the paint stuff you referenced. I'd also get a GMVIS run on it from a dealer to look at the service records.

That's what, about 23% off MSRP? I've been tracking GSCE's (those are 3LT's) in the registry that are selling used, you can see it here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...#gid=484819017. Price wise that seems to be in line...

I see a transparent roof and a battery charger as an option, be sure to collect those with the deal.

You might hear clicking front wheels on real tight turns, common issue, TSB for it, not much to do about it other than torque the wheels down every so often.

Other than that, I would suspect it to be pretty solid....

Also check for the obvious...look under the car and in the engine compartment for leaks. Also turn on and off all interior lights, turn signals, reverse lights, hazard lights, radio and climate control systems with the blower to make sure there are no electrical problems. If something doesn't come on it could be a fuse or something more serious. Electrical shorts are time consuming and expensive to find.

Your warranty won't cover any damage from hitting something.Gonna have to get under it and inspect for any impacts to cause problems. These tires ain't got much thread to start with and the rims ain't the strongest design.Inspect and judge.
Have you priced New? No worries with new.Hard to buy a Used Sports Car.They are Most Likely well USED.
Alot of money with, What If Questions? That is why i went New.

Default Well that was interesting...

Well that was a perfect storm of "NO"..

First strike - 40 minutes late to our meeting spot at a supermarket in NorthEast Portland ( I drove 50 miles in traffic to get there).

Second strike - Beautiful red Grand Sport pulls into the parking lot and a 20 something year old Asian guy gets out - I was kind of hoping for a bit more maturity in the owner. Visions of street racing dancing in my head.

Third strike - the car has obviously been a daily driver. Oregon winter tree/pollen gunk in all the body panel gaps

Fourth strike - the kid (who was actually very nice and polite) wants to sell it to get a Subaru BRZ so he can drive it year around, "Saying the Grand Sport didn't drive very well in the rain and winter".

So thanks for all the advise guys - the forum is invaluable - I think I am going to buy new - Cheers - Don

When I was searching for my new car, I used Cargurus and AutoTrader and found it very useful in my search.
