My Mustang GT had OP. My Boss 302 had OP. My Audi has OP. My Z06 has OP.
The best paint of all is my wife's Mazda CX5--very little if any.

If you're going to be **** about the paint on your car to the point of holding a mirror next to it and comparing, and then calling this a defect, well, you're never going to enjoy the car since I presume actually driving it, where rocks, bird poop and other drivers might come in contact with it would have you worried too.

It's a car, keep it as clean and pretty as you want, but remember it's a car. Unless you specifically bought it to keep in a bubble in a "as new, as delivered" type of collectible. I suspect not...

Default Orange Perl

I don’t get all the hostility from people I don’t know because I asked for some input on an issue I have with my Vette. If you don’t like the question then don’t answer.

contructive answers like don’t do anything & enjoy you car is fine but the rest of the stuff is a waste of everybody’s time. Keep it to yourself.

That's exactly what I think about my LBR vette, painted in the old shop. I have taken it out in the sun and stared at that thing from a couple of inches away across the entire car. I can't see anything that qualifies as "orange peel." The paint is as smooth as a baby's butt. I have 20/20 vision, so there's nothing wrong with my eyes. I believe OP is in the academy of the overrated. It is certainly not anything worth complaining about. I consider it somewhat like religion; You believe it or you don't. Sorry. I know that's not a popular opinion.

My comment wasn't meant to be a stab at you, if you interpreted it that way I apologize.

I used to go completely insane everytime I found a little paint defect on my cars. Nowadays I try to keep my toys clear of any defect as much as possible, but I don't lose any sleep over some of these things. Yes you can fix it, but is it worth the time, effort and money? That's the real question...

Part of it may be that it has been covered quite a bit in these forums and it is quite subjective so hard to really know how bad it is and really get any solid advice on something like this... Plus, it's the Internet...try asking someone to photoshop something for you :-)

All C7s have Orange Peel. They always will too.

The new C7 paint shop's 2018s & 2019s, all have Orange Peel on their paint.

The C7 Orange Peel deniers don't want you to mention the problem exists. But it does.

Across the board.

it’s your opinion so it’s valid. I’ll figure it when Chevy is done with their evaluation. Thanks to all.

You can expect push back from the immature little boyz that get their feelings hurt about their car's Orange Peel paint jobs.

The 1st photo is an Orange Peel C7 paint reflection - blurry qualities.

The 2nd is a photo of the same light bulb, without the C7's paint job Orange Peel:

They all have some level of OP. What exactly are you wanting GM to do at this point?

Every BMW, Porsche, and M-B I've owned has had some OP. The only cars I see that don't have OP are ones where the price supports color sanding at the factory, like Bentley, R-R, Ferrari, McLaren, and Lambo. And even those aren't perfect. My '17 GS isn't perfect and has some OP, but the overall paint and quality of the car are pretty good. I get compliments all of the time. I keep my GS relatively clean and drive the wheels off it. Don't sweat the OP, have fun with the car.

Some of the earlier (14-15) cars were pretty bad. Not just OP, but misaligned panels....and the OP would vary from panel to panel. Things got better though.

My '17 is pretty damned good. Not perfect, but neither were the Mercedes I owned. My wife's 2015 Genesis 5.0 is quite astonishing. Tough find a car with zero OP unless it's been corrected or repainted.

C'mon, man. Is this a joke? I don't doubt you have OP but to be fair, the light bulb needs to be as close to the paint as your camera was to the light bulb to get a proper representation.....and the exposures have to match. Duh.

Of course the newest cars still have some orange peel, but it's considerably less than with the older ones. That doesn't mean the odd older one can't be a good one, just that there is way more consistency in the paint quality on the newest ones. What pisses me off is that you refuse to believe that FACT. And yes, it is a FACT, the cars coming out of the new paint shop are painted much better than most of the ones that came out of the old paint shop. But you're just too stubborn to admit that. For some odd reason you seem to have an agenda to spread false information about the quality of the stuff coming out of the new plant. Luckily most people on this forum are smart enough to see through your bullshit.

Orange peel notwithstanding, SMC composite (TCA Ultra Lite ‘16+) panels tend to have a degree of waviness, and are not as smooth metal panels. While I’ve never had any issues with the finish of my ‘16 AW Z, I also accept that it’s still a Chevy. This is not meant to minimize the dissatisfaction of some, but perhaps overall expectations might be too high.

Defects, including cracks, overspray, etc., are a different story, but I doubt that GM is going to remedy any grievances regarding orange peel IMO.
