Default Couple of Spring Mountain school questions

Hey Guys,
I'm sure it's been gone over before but, what can I wear at the course. Jeans tee shirt and sneakers? Shorts? I heard that some of the data cards don't work. I was planning on getting two 32 GB (I think thats the one) one for me one for the wife who is also doing it. What else is a good idea to bring or get. Thanks in advance and sorry if this is a repeated type question.

Closed Toed Shoes. I bought some of the https://corvettestore.com/piloti-pro...oesprotoc7bkrd They wear like a sneaker. I wore jeans with a sleeved Tshirt.

buy a cheap ice chest as our condo had a small dorm style refer that had no ice storage and water or other beverage of choice.

Best place to eat off campus is the Winery the place they serve you breakfast and lunch offers evening meals also.

Relax and have a blast and listen to the instructors as they are great.

georgehafe, I just took the Corvette Owners School program a few days ago. The temps were in the low to mid 80's and was very comfortable. I wore shorts and short sleeved shirts and was very comfortable. If you are going to take the same course (COS), then as far as clothing is concerned, just wear what you are comfortable in because:
1. when you are in class the class rooms are air conditioned
2. when you are in the car you will run the air conditioner
3. the evenings are nice (shorts are fine as it doesn't get that cold during the evenings)

With regards to the SD cards, the 16 GB card has waaaaay more capacity than what you will need for the COS class as you probably won't want to PDR/record anything on the first day, but the 2nd day you will want to PDR every moment you are on the track, including (and especially) the track session where you are riding as a passenger with one of the instructors as they show you what 70% of the car's capability looks/feels like. The 32 GB SD card will of course also be fine if you wish to go that route. Don't forget your sunglasses.

Wear anything you want except closed toe shoes required. If you have your own helmet, bring it. Agree with the Winery, about 5 miles away. The other meals are done in the club house. A 32G is plenty and still usable after you get home. Make sure it is FAT32 formatted. They sell them and anything else you will need in the shop where you sign in. Nice jackets for $85. My refrigerator was full size.

Default clothing etc at Fellows

I see people know about the sd card However is you take a laptop or something that will allow you to play the sd card then you can review what you did right or wrong so you can do better HOPEFULLY

Yeah, mine too. In fact, the living quarters were as nice as most nice hotels I've stayed in. Not too big, not too small; just right.

Yeah, I learned a LOT more after I got home and viewed (over and over) all the things that I could have done better. For instance:
  • on turn 3, I turned in often too late
  • on turn 5, I turned in too soon
  • on turn 10, I turned in too soon
It's kinda funny, how clearly I could have done better. In some cases, I think viewing the PDR recordings have helped me more than listening to the instructors while on the track because an instructor would say that I turned in too soon (but I received the instructor's input after I made the mistake) whereas watching the PDR recordings enable me to see the early turn in resulting in an exit that was too wide. I think reviewing the PDR recordings between track sessions would have been VERY helpful and would have likely enabled me to preemptively correct my errors for the next track session.

I took the class in 2014. Any clothes you are comfortable in works well. Closed toe shoes, I used sperry boat shoes, so I could feel the pedals.

My wife and I both loved the class. I was able to add the third day to mine.

I will be taking the class again in the next 12 months as I am picking up a new grand sport this week end, Trading my 14 Stingray Z51 car.

For the discounted class it's one year from date of purchase of a new Corvette. The school is outside Las Vegas in Pahrump, Nevada.

I'm going April 25 and 26.

I could be wrong since I don't work for Spring Mountain (Ron Fellows) but I think it's one year. If anyone knows differently please educate all of us. Thanks.

They recommend driving shoes, but a good pair of sneakers is fine as well. Shorts are OK, you'll be in A/C classrooms, in the car it's windows up, A/C on and there's always plenty of water on hand. Listen to the instructors, and don't try to be the fastest guy in class, just soak up all the good advice they provide. A 16GB card should be fine, breakfast and lunch in the clubhouse are good, if you want a nice dinner the Symphony at Pahrump Winery is great, but make a reservation as it's very popular with Spring Mountain guests, they also have wine tastings most days. Be sure to bring a good pair of sunglasses and enjoy!!
