Cross country in new Z06

Drive it!
If you don't want to, I will do it for you. Nothing better than a "Cross the Country " road trip!
Just make an appointment for your 500 ish mile oil change where you expect to be at that point. One hour and you will be good to go the rest of the way!

Depends on how much time you have.
If you have a couple of weeks to enjoy the ride with your wife or girl friend, then yes, take the drive.
If you need to drive hundreds of miles a day to get home in the shortest amount of time, then no, have it shipped. That is a lot of miles with very little entertainment value.

It depends upon the person. I have no problems driving 600-700 miles a day in a nice sports car, and rather enjoy it as a zen-like experience. 5 days from coast-to-coast is a piece of cake.

Just remember some buyers of these cars have issues with the seat comfort at first, so maybe it would be best to have someone with you that can drive it and give you a break once in a while. And if you are fussy about the appearance of your car get the PPF on it before you leave. And like others have stated arrange for the 500 mile oil change with a dealer that can do it while you wait.

To reduce risk of ruining your trip, I suggest you best determine about where you will hit approx 500 miles and contact the local Corvette club for recommendations as to which Chevy dealer best to get a Z06 oil change.

My wife and I picked up her 2016 2 LT 7spd in central Penna. on June 29 of 2016, went to Fort Myers, Florida to visit family then cross country to home in Montana on July 20,stopping at Bowling Green and Mt.Rushmore along the way.
Best road trip we had in years. Hit several thunderstorms, car managed it all just fine.

I agree with some of the earlier posters.........if you have the time to do it, where you can stop and do things on the way home and see things along the way then definitely drive it! If you are going to be "on the hump" the whole way home, trying to get home as fast as you can, then have it shipped. This is really a great opportunity to make a nice cross country trip, again, if you have the time. Either way best of luck with the car.

i'd drive it. retired so my wife and i look on it as an adventure. we've been all up and down the east cost, to St. Louis, Chicago, and just last month to Detroit to pick up our new ones and drive them home. With the dry sump you just have to plan your first 500 mile pit stop in a chevy dealer town to make the oil change.
Nota bene, the mid section of the US has been spawning some narrow-width storms which race east with snow, one even predicted on the east coast for next Monday! we scheduled our pickup/ride back between two of those storms in March for an absolutely glorious blue sky day, but with snow arriving 14 hours after we did in Va. Snow isn't sticking anymore, the ground is too warm, but driving in the rain long distance is no fun either.

Drive it. Some legs will be boring and you can clip off 500-600 miles in one day without missing anything. Other days, plenty to see and you might only do 200 miles that day.
My longest road trip was 6,418 miles in my C6 Z06 and it was a blast. 15 days but I did a lot of sightseeing, but other times I was driving 80-85.

Consider that Cup 2 tires don't do well in the cold, but that said, drive it anyway. Don't be like the guy won't make love to his hot, sexy, passionate young girlfriend so he could keep her fresh for the next guy.
Consider finding a shop near the dealer to put ClearBra, SunTek or Ceramic on at least all the front facing surfaces to protect your new baby from rock chips and bug splats.

Okay, I'm in the minority here. But I would have it shipped.
1) Your first long road trip in your new Corvette should be trip of your planning. A getaway. A vacation. Not just some miles to get it home.
2) What if something does happen? Say something as small as a chipped windshield. Are going to regret that your new Corvette didn't make it to your driveway with it's virginity intact?
3) If you are new to Corvettes you may want to spend some time getting familiar with it. ...getting intimate with it. Driving it around home carefully until you get to know the personality of YOUR car.
4) After you've had it awhile and have become completely comfortable and familiar with it, THEN take a long trip. In fact, take MANY long trips!
YMMV
