Safe to assume there is no way to have 2 items plugged in at the same time in the OBD-II (AFM disabler + SmartTop)?
I've been running SmartTOP and disabler for the last 10 months with no issues. This is the splitter I use:

Tuning the car can void the warranty, this can be plugged in/out without any trace.

Yes and no. It can be run on manuals, but you really don't need it. With the manual, AFM only activates in ECO mode, so it's easy enough to avoid with the manual.

because changing the ECU could void your warranty.

Thanks for the info, ordered mine two days ago and just got it. Checked the blinking lights to make sure it was 8.6.1 version which it is which is a relief.

The only thing is the paperwork said to take it off if not a daily driver but after talking to customer service they assured me it could stay in with any battery drain.

How do you know from blinking lights its 8.6.1? Mine had the note about don't leave plugged in as well, just got it. Works great so far, stays in V8 all the time.

Talked to Customer Service from Range Tech, the 8.6.1 is the newest and can be left in without draining the battery.
I was concerned as well when I read the paperwork and wanted to make sure there was not going to be a problem.

When you get 8 blinks than 6 blinks than 1, you have firmware that is current.

What difference does it make? Is it only to keep it out of V4 mode? Or does it have other benefits?

Purely to keep an A8 out of V4 mode. You can actually accomplish the same thing by putting the A8 into manual mode and using the paddle shifters

Yes, that is all it does, but well worth it.

From what I have read about it - it also helps with excessive oil usage and possible push rod issues also

So if true which many say it is - does more than just V4 disable - there are YT videos on it
