The double extreme kit adds 55 pounds to the car and is by far the BEST noise reduction available for your Corvette.
The Extreme kit adds 20 pounds - it covers half as much and the material is thinner than the Double Extreme.
The base kit which I’ve been selling for 16 years only adds about 5 pounds and works exceptionally well for the weight - it is incredible.
If you are concerned with noise levels and use your car for anything other than racing, the double extreme kit is without a doubt the best way to go. You and your passenger during the holidays are probably carrying around 50lbs of extra bodyweight Even racing.... technically 100 pounds is supposed to be about one tenth of a second slower in the quarter mile.... so ‘theoretically’ you would be 500th’s of a second slower with 50 pounds. Which is also about the equivalent of 5-10 degrees hotter or 10% more humidity in the air. Just to put things in perspective.
It all comes down to what’s important to you in your car. (And in many cases keeping your wife/girl happy on road trips!)
Don’t just take my word for it. This thread alone has three guys who have the double extreme kit. There’s a few other threads on the double extreme kit and probably dozens or more about my insulation kits over the last 14 years on the forum.

Is it bonded to the carpet? If so then yes it's the factory stuff that is not very effective. There is some aftermarket super thick grey foam pad that I've had some customers show me that they removed after our kit was installed because they no longer needed it and it limited how far back the seat would go.

Is there a reasonably easy way to remove the foam that is bonded to the carpet?

Thanks for the post Vonfido. The kit really does work well (it wouldn’t be selling for 15 years plus if it didn’t) and the new double extreme kit is a game changer on the level of noise reduction you get for a Corvette. I always feel a bit biased when I give results because it was my product but when I’ve got over 1,000 customers’ emails and posts confirming it for a decade and a half now I can feel confident when I tell others about it.
Still, every time someone takes the time to write something like you did it means as much to me as the first guy who ever gave me feedback way back then.
THANK YOU for being a customer and enjoy that beautiful C7 this summer!

In my opinion, if you're going to remove the interior of your car don't stop short, do the double extreme. The first heavy layer makes the car solid. Again it's just me but I wouldn't do all that work and just install the single lighter weight material.

I wish I could find someone in the Westchester area that would install for me - someone who knows what they're doing and is willing to do it at a decent price.

Has anyone done any before and after noise measurements?

Ordered the Double Extreme Insulation kit, should arrive Saturday. Looks like I have next weekend planned out. Little nervous about pulling the car apart, I’ll take it slowly and see how it goes.

I did a measurement with the decibel meter and made a video of it with the extreme kit I while back. It’s on my YouTube channel. The double extreme kit is twice as much material and it is 50% thicker. I have not yet done a decibel meter on it but I can tell you it is considerably quieter in the car before and after. I have been in about 50 extreme kit C7 Corvettes and the first time I was in a double extreme car was really impressed at the difference. Of course I could be just blowing smoke but if you look at the results from the guys in this thread alone I assure you I’m not. It is definitely The best noise reduction kit available for the C7

Another successful Double Extreme sound deadening kit installed! Dan is a very, very hard working businessman, and does quality work. On the drive home, the inside definitely sounded a lot quieter. I also had the rear cargo shelf/barrier installed, and not only does it look great and OEM, but provides a barrier against anything flying into the front of the car. All in all, I'm very, very satisfied with the work done and I highly recommend Dan.

Hey guys just a reminder I will be closed from May 2 through about the 24th. If you’re looking for an install or to order a kit for shipping to you please do it as soon as possible because these tend to sell as soon as they are made. Are usually need a day or two to get one made and shipped.
Luckily the aluminum tariffs that was passed a couple weeks ago has not impacted prices. At least yet. I don’t see how we can’t eventually see it increase of at least 10%. Don’t wait too long or you might have to pay for that delay LOL
