Default A former wannabe

After about 4 years of reading the Corvette Forum and researching every written word on the C-7 Stingray and boring all my friends about my desire to someday own a Corvette I finally pulled the trigger and bought a 2015 Z-51, manual, 3 LT with 6,500 miles on it last week.

I was going to buy a 2019 Grand Sport but when this car came up it had everything on it I wanted, the right color combinations and was fully loaded. I had some initial doubts about not getting a new GS but I've been super impressed with the Z-51. With all the information out there, you can't help but sometimes get the impression that unless you get the ZR-1 package than somehow you're getting a lesser car. I've got to confess, this car has all the power I'll ever need, it's simply the best vehicle I've ever driven and whatever C-7 Corvette you buy you can't go wrong. The term "base" Corvette is the biggest understatement in automotive history.

A) Congrats.

B) Try not to kill yourself, it's pretty easy in a car that fast.

C) The Z-51 isn't a purely base car, but I get your drift. You know like if that's the slowest Corvette, then, um, holy crap. That Z-51 package is something you kind of need in the car if you're going to corner hard.

Enjoy. I have a stick shift too. It provides great peace of mind knowing by simply not having an auto trans you make it impossible for 90% of the world to steal your car.

Congratulations and you did well going with the Z51 package. You are not getting a lot more with the Grand Sport over the Z51.. it’s more of a look than a performance gap anyways. I own a Grand Sport.

Forum etiquette mandates all new Corvette owners post pictures of their rides so get in compliance!

Congrats on the new Vette. I too dragged my feet for far too long but once I pulled the trigger I never looked back and have enjoyed every minute of ownership. I noticed your user name; are you also a TR6 owner?

Congratulations! You are correct that the base car is more than any of us need on the street. Enjoy and be safe.

Yes, I've got a 1973 TR6. Not quite as fast as the Corvette.
