~I was putting my next dozen deliveries in line for clean up and I realized that 4 in a row starting today are all Sebring Orange Convt's!! So get ready for some great color combo's in my Sunday delivery post. 2 of these 4 are factory orders. 2 are staying in Maryland and 2 are headed to Florida. The Sunshine state will get brighter!

Ed drove up from Florida yesterday and took delivery today at 2pm of his new '19 GS Convt. that you see in the above picture. Ed traded in his 7spd Black Rose GS Convt.
This '18 Sebring Orange Convt GS Convt above will head to Boonsboro, MD tomorrow at 10am. This will be my #4,000th Corvette delivery in my 40 years of selling Corvettes. Stay tuned as the rumor is that a few TV stations may be on hand to film the delivery. Mike is trading in his 2013 60th anniv Convt. with 12,000 miles.
This Z06 convt is Sebring Orange with gray interior, gray top and gray dual racing stripes. Factory ordered by Larry of Essex, MD. Saturday delivery high Noon and he is trading in a 2016 Laguna Blue Z06.
Sandy of Jacksonville, FL is trading in his Mustang Convt for this GS Convt in Sebring Orange, Kalahari interior and Kalahari top. Plycon trucking is shipping up the Ford and will deliver this beauty to his home.

What a milestone! Congrats on number 4,000 Mike. I would hope the brass in Bowling Green will acknowledge this at the Bash.

Anyways, while looking around the cars, there was a group of salesman congregated around a golf cart under a shade tree, maybe 20' from where I was looking at the car. They didn't take me very seriously. One of them finally spoke and asked me "You want to just buy both of them?!?" and all the rest all had a good laugh. I was about to leave, when a another really young sales guy came out of the building and started talking. He was cool and I told him I was curious about the paddle shift, and he actually offered a test drive for me to try one out. I noticed out the corner of my eye, one of those other salesman pulled him aside as he walked back out with the key, basically admonishing him for wasting his time. (I'm not sure if he intended me to hear that or not, but I did) Anyways, took the test drive, didn't like the paddle shift anywhere near as much as the manual. The other salesmen were still giving the guy rough looks when we got back from the drive.
About an hour later, though, the young salesman had sold his first Vette, as I traded the 350Z for the 2008 6-speed instead of the Auto. The look on the other salesmen's faces from the distance while the kid helped me transfer my stuff to the new one was priceless.

However......salesmen are a funny breed. They're truly their own worst enemy to making a sale, in my experience.
It's interesting that no car sales rep has ever sold me a new or used car without a test drive. Just last week I stopped in to my nearest Chev. dealer to inspect their new Corvette stock. A 22 yr. old salesman came running out to my new C7 to help me. As I was inspecting stock he followed like a puppy and asked me where I bought my Corvette. I answered; a Chev. dealer that I test drove the car first at. I told him that his dealership denied me a test drive, so I couldn't consider them. He commenced with a 3 minute reply as to why they do not allow Corvette test drives. At the end of his bloviating, I replied; "that's why you'll never sell me a Corvette," and I walked off.
I'm still anxious to see my first Sebring Orange in person. Those look great!!

The post of Mike's I had replied to, was Mike talking about the first of his 4000 Vette sales, so I was sharing the tale of how my first Vette purchase was also a young salesman's first Vette sale. I thought it was an interesting tale within that context at least.
