How you know it's been a long Winter
You know when you're out driving your C7 around with the targa top off on a freakishly warm April day (it was 80ºF here today, 68ºF even tonight) and you're toggling the switch to dim the interior lights and your HUD keeps disappearing. But your inside lights won't dim.
Then after a while you realize THAT's the HUD display locating toggle and the dim the interior light switch is a **** a bit to the right where you can't see it when you're driving. Which is fine once you know where it is. And I used to know that.
Long. Friggin. Winter. Boys.

My has been in the garage for six months now. It’s rained just about every day here in Oregon. In fact, we are having winter storms for the last three days! So frig’n tired of this weather!
If I didn’t live so close to my grand kids I would move to Arizona in a heartbeat.

I'll never live year around in a miserable climate. Life's too short!!

I was raised up and educated Up North. I moved South to seek my fortune immediately after graduation. It was an easy decision. The North was dying economically, and the South and Southwest was booming. Taxes suck/ed up North.
The weather, coupled with lower taxes and more economic opportunity is why the entire Sunbelt will continue to thrive.
I pay NO State income taxes. I pay $6K less in annual property taxes. I pay $3K less in utility bills.
Not sure why anyone would stay up there and not drive their Corvettes year around.

1. No way I could make the money I do for what I do elsewhere.
2. Seasons are variety and variety is the spice of life
3. Love mountains and beaches
4. Continual hot weather would make me miserable.
5. Family is here.
6. Love it here.
7. Love to ski and snowmobile - a snowy morning in the mountains is beautiful and but a few hours away.
Yes, the cost of living sucks, the commute sucks, and the Vette lives on the tender. Then again, today is going to be near 80, so the top is certainly going down. Every spring the Vette feels like I just bought a new car!

There's no way I could have made the fortune I've made Up in the Rustbelt. Unless you're on Government gravytrain-dole, or incarcerated, your money is always duplicatable in the Sunbelt.
We get four seasons in Texas.
We have mountains and beaches.
Continually cold weather as you get, would make me miserable. It's not continually hot here.
Family? Take em with you. Unless they're also on the Government gravytrain, or incarcerated.(Covered above)
We love it here. We don't complain endlessly about weather and not driving our Corvettes. Today will be near 60°. A very cold day.
Skiing and mountains are just a few hours away too.
Every day when I drive my new Corvette, it's like a new car. - not just part of the year.
Continue to be slaughtered by your taxes. Some seem to love it.

How you know it's been a long winter
In my case as of now, 4-14 the car is still under its cover, tender on sitting in my garage. We got lots of snow this winter and that of course brought out many tons of salt and sand. Its still cold out and I had a couple incidents with the "summer tires" on my last two Vettes, and know its prudent to wait!
Right now the weather men (4 different sources) are all predicting a long duration ice storm to be starting about 12 noon today. Considerable freezing rain to fall and warning about many serious power outs. Just last week we went on generator for close to 24 hours!
I have a whole house stand by generator ready to go and a good blade and plenty of 2 stroke mix for my chain saw.

Seems like every year when my car comes out of its winter nap there is something on it I have to get used to all over again. I attribute it to getting older.

Regarding the southern desert states, Michigan is too awesome. The winter sucks but the other 8 seasons are amazing! 3rd winter is about done and we are moving into mud season

Hopefully we won't need generator or chain saw but mine are ready to go also. There saying maybe 1/2 inch of ice now thru Sunday morning. Then will have deal with potholes, they are brutal this year. So far I got to drive my GS for 4 months before storing for 6 months. I will have to figure every thing out like a new car again. Hopefully soon!
We do not get many potholes up here in the mountains we get heaves and ripples, due to how crazy the weather was most of those are almost back to normal
I enjoy top down driving and by the time it comes out hopefully that will be the way it goes for the first ride. Of course this storm will get a lot of salt/sand dumped on the roads AGAIN. A good rain after this storm is over should wash all the crap away and I can get some use out of my summer car and stop driving my 4x4 pick up as much. This is the first year my car is still in garage this long.
