Z51 Bits on non-Z51 car

Z51 Bits on non-Z51 car
I'm picking up a beautiful 2014 3LT convertible. It's a great deal from a friend. Questions about adding Z51 Sways and Shocks.
I saw chart on here about spring rates. It's seems the stock and z51 cars have nearly identical spring rates. So it makes sense if I get the Z51 shocks and Sways, I can get approximately the handling. (Yes, I'm fully away of the other Z51 bits.. LSD, Brakes.. coolers etc) not concerned with that.
I Will never track or autocross this car. I have a dedicated track car for that already.
I liked the ride of my 2010 Grand Sport. That was perfect for me. I'd like to approximate that.
So does the z51 shocks and sways makes sense?
Thanks
Jeff
PS - This is the dedicated track car I mentioned.

I'd say not worth the effort to be honest.

I've seen some threads over the years with guys doing this. If you want something stiffer and tighter then it seems to be a pretty cost effective mod. Only question is how much will you actually feel on the street.

When I got my 997 Cab a while ago, I was amazed how soft the stock setup was. Must have been made for HouseFraus. I changed the swaybars and put on coils, it transformed the car.

Go with just the sway-bars. Quick, easy, cheap, and makes a difference. An entire "kit" is available with all ya need. (just my buck's worth)

I installed the Z51 sway bars on my non-Z51 2014 coupe, and the handling improvement was very noticeable during 'sporty' street driving. And the cost of the OEM Z51 bars is *cheap*, making it a great bang-for-the-buck mod.
I was going to do the shocks too but not sure if the cost is worth it at this point (the shocks cost more than the bars).

I did exactly this, was worth every penny, the stock setup was way to tame and mushhhhhy for me... the Z51 FE3 suspension parts really woke the car up... I did the front and rear bars and shocks

Best go with another source for those!

Just do the bars. ~$350 for the bars and ~$100 for installation. Well worth the money.

you can search for better deals, I got better prices than those.. And its really not hard to install both sets..

Thanks everyone for the input. Makes sense to me. I'll try the bars first, then do shocks if necessary. I do my own work, this is an easy install.

I just did the rear sway bar on my 2017 base, thanks to the advise here. Love the soft ride of the base, found too much roll when pushing it. Rear bar controlled the roll, although it fishtails a little more.

Just installing the Z51 rear bar is what is making it “fishtail” more — too much rear roll bar compared to the front.
That is why it is always recommended to install the Z51 roll bars as a set (f & r)

You need the Z51 front bar too — it’s stiffer than your base front bar.

Guess I should have read a little more. Adding the front bar shouldn't affect the softer base ride, right?

I did the sway bars on mine as well. It stiffeners it up slightly, especially in the rear where there is no factory sway bar at all. The front bushings for the Z51 swaybars are a bit stiffer as well.

It a bad decision to try out the sway bars first. As you said, shocks can be added later if needed.
